Overall Assessment/Reviews ... Very Good! The Sony VAIO PCG-TR3A is light-weight (3.11 pounds) and very portable with good battery life. You can get around 4 hours depending on your computer tasks -- with an optical larger-capacity battery you can get from between 6 and 11 hours of battery life. The Sony Vaio notebook computer is powered by an Intel Pentium M 1.0 GHz ultra-low voltage processor with a generous 512MB of PC2100 DDR memory. It only has a 40GB Hard Drive but does possess an internal 24x CD-RW Combo drive. It also has the Intel Extreme2 graphics processor which is acceptable for most graphic work except 3D. You get a lot of screen with the excellent Sony XBRITE 10.6" wide LCD display with 1280x768 max resolution. Some have noted that the reflective screen cover can pose problems in bright sunlight. Check for yourself. Connections are good with the new Pro Wireless 2200 chipset from Intel for 802.11b/g wireless, 2 USB 2.0 ports, FireWire, an external VGA connector, standard 10/100 Ethernet and 56k modem for anyone still in the dark ages and using dial-up! The VIAO has features that you might want to note- it has a simple built in camera located just above the monitor, and an 83-key keyboard with an electro-static touchpad. It also features Windows XP Home and Microsoft Works. Plus a whole bag of Sony multimedia software such as PictureGear Studio, SonicStage(music) DVgate Plus (video) and Network Smart Capture ( photo). It's also preloaded with Intervideo WinDVD and Norton Internet Security Center 7. But always check with your dealer before buying to get the exact specs and features. Battery life is around 4 hours depending on your computer tasks. Size: 10.6" Width X 7.4" Height X 1.4" Depth @ 3.11 pounds Cons: Keyboard takes getting used to, limited sound quality. Pros: Good battery life, portability, great performance and Sony Quality. Conclusion: Very good portable ultra-light notebook and very versatile all-around package.
