Does Your Site Need An SEO Checkup?

Google Spot!

Since Google launched its Panda Update earlier this
year and all the follow-up changes after it, many people
believe that your site’s SEO has become more important.

That your “on-page factors” must be right or as best
as they can possibly be.

This all has to do with the quality of your site and your
webpages. It seems like Google is more forcefully judging
that quality and your site now has to pass a few more hurdles
or it will be lowered in the rankings.

Regardless of Google, having all your SEO factors done
“right and proper” won’t hurt your site. The faster your
page or site loads helps everyone. Making your site
easier to find by the search engines and your visitors
helps everyone. Having your site or page fully optimized
also helps everyone.

Besides, knowing everything you can possibly know
about your site will also help you, especially when
it comes to SEO.

Wouldn’t it be good to know these things about
your site…

– Number of Backlinks?

– Keyword Density?

– Right Meta Tags?

– Do You Have A Sitemap?

– Are Your Images Optimized?

– Is Your HTML Compressed?

– Do You Have H1 Heading Tags?

– Is Your Site Protected From Hackers?

… and many more factors or issues which
could determine the quality of your site
in the eyes of the search engines, especially
Google.

While not perfect, here’s a nice free site
where you can quickly do an SEO Checkup.
They will not only show you what’s wrong, but
give you concrete ways to fix the problems.

Google’s Panda Update and SEO

Google’s Panda Update and SEO

Google Marketing Spot!

Whenever Google does a major update to their extremely
complex algorithm, the mathematical formula which runs
their search engines and rankings, we have winners and
losers.

Most often it is the losers you hear about… crying
foul that the Big G is treating them unfairly with
the latest changes. Panda, which also has been dubbed
Farmer Update by many, since it supposedly deals with
“content farms” and “low quality” sites – has created
a lot of fallout.

But does new changes affect how you do your SEO?

Well, yes and no. Producing great original unique
content should still the main goal of any website,
and this has not changed.

What has changed is that webmasters must take
some steps to ensure their content is not “judged”
or “seen” as a content farm or of low quality.
In other words, you can have great content but
if it is splattered with ads and banners… this
could affect your SEO and rankings, at least within
Google.

In the same light, if your great content is poorly
presented with hard to read text… poor navigation
and loads very slowly, your great content can be
penalized by Google. You must give the searcher
coming from Google a good visitor experience or they
can lower your rankings.

Google has been very open to what they expect on your
site… but this hasn’t stopped the losers of this
recent update from complaining. In some cases, their
arguments are justified, they have been wronged, but
in many situations, the lowering of rankings worked
properly – not exactly what some webmasters want
to hear.

Google now be judging your whole site, rather than
each webpage separately. This is very important because
a few low-quality pages on your site, could lower your
overall site’s rankings… ouch!

You could have 90% excellent content but have 10% that’s
downright crappy – so it’s time to clean up your site
and present to visitors ONLY great content.

Now, I have written 10 extra points on the new update
which you should consider following. A lot of these
are standard SEO tactics which you should be using
anyway. Others are slanted to reflect this new
Panda Update.

Increase Your Rankings With This Free SEO Analyzer Tool

If you have a website, you will probably already know how important
it is to use the right SEO (Search Engine Optimization) techniques
if you want to get those higher rankings. Now, getting tons of
one-way quality keyworded backlinks will be the most important factor,
but getting all your SEO ducks in a roll really does help.

Over the years I have tested hundreds of SEO tools… some good,
some bad. But I really like the one listed below, it not only does
a helpful analysis of your site or page, but it also presents some
helpful videos by Google’s spokesperson Matt Cutts on how to improve
your site/page to increase your CTR (click-through rate).

Besides getting higher rankings, having the right title and description
for your site will make a difference in how many visitors you get.
One trick that has worked for me – “place your main benefit in your
title and description”
– in other words give the surfer a good solid
reason why they should NOT hit the back button.

Giving and telling your visitors exactly how they can benefit from
visiting your site will help you get that click. Truth be told, the
traffic battle is often won or lost in the SERPs or search engine
results pages… a good title and description can grab a visitor’s
attention and make them click through to your site. Sometimes it
doesn’t matter if you’re in the top spot, just as long as you can
capture that click with a good title or description.

Make sure you get this right or do some tweaking to find out what
works the best. However, one word of caution, if you’re into marketing
you will want to find the title or description which converts into
a sale. I approach this from different angles and what has worked
for me is using either “deals/coupons/discounts” or
“comparison/compare/products” for getting higher conversion
rates.

In close ranking battles, having the right keyword density will make
a slight difference, so try to have your page or site reflect the right
keywords. Again, targeting the right keywords which convert into a sale
will improve your bottom line. Obviously, targeting words related to
“discounts, best deals, coupons, gifts, lowest price” will help increase
sales. I have also found targeting brand names can increase your sales
especially with long-tail phrases.

I have also found it helpful to have your main keywords in different parts
of your page or site. Try including them in the meta tag description,
in the H1, in the alt image attributes and place some in bold print and
italics. Don’t go overboard, always write your content for your visitors
and not for the search engines, but keep your keywords in mind when
creating your pages.

Like I said, getting all your SEO ducks in a roll will help improve
your rankings, especially in those close keyword battles. Beating your
competitor could just be a matter of tweaking or optimizing your site
or page.
