As you probably know, I am not a tech person, but last
\nweek I had to upgrade several of my WordPress blogs. On
\none of them I even had to update the MySQL and PHP, as
\nwell as backup a database and move it before I could
\nmanually upgrade my WP blog to the latest version.<\/p>\n

I mention all this because many webmasters are sometimes
\ndiscouraged from using a WordPress blog because occasionally
\nthey will have to go in and handle some of the tech stuff.
\nHowever, the WordPress platform is very well established and
\nthe directions\/support\/forums are all very professionally
\nrun and managed.<\/p>\n

So there simply is no reason why any webmaster shouldn’t be
\nusing this type of free blogging software in conjunction with
\ntheir site or sites.<\/p>\n

If you’re one of those who is not using WordPress or similar
\nblogging software with your site, here are 5 SEO reasons
\nwhy you should use it.<\/p>\n

1.<\/b> – Get your content indexed in Google almost instantly by
\nsimply using a WP blog. I use Google Alerts to get an email
\nevery time Google indexes any piece of online content associated
\nwith one of my keywords so I know immediately when my blog
\nposts are indexed. Sometimes it’s a few minutes, sometimes
\na few hours – but the content\/posts get indexed almost
\nimmediately. Needless to say, getting your content crawled
\nand indexed by Google is the starting point to getting more
\ntraffic.<\/p>\n

2.<\/b> – WordPress is “Keyword and Category Rich” so you can
\neasily target your main keywords and keyword phrases. You
\ncan have your blog neatly divided into categories and the
\nproper sub-categories so that the search engines will love
\nyour blog. Again, having this kind of blog software\/platform
\nwill make it easy for you to target your keywords and help build
\nyour rankings. You can also place your main keywords directly
\nin the URL for your blog posts.<\/p>\n

3.<\/b> – Blogs are current and while that might sound rather
\nobvious but recently Google has come out and stated it does
\ntake the “timeline” or “date” into consideration when presenting
\ntheir search results. Using WordPress will give you current
\ntimelined content for Google to easily digest and present.
\nHaving this relevant and current blog content can prove to
\nbe a major SEO benefit in the months to come.<\/p>\n

4.<\/b> – All blogs have RSS feeds. This is another obvious
\nfact but many webmasters simply don’t understand what
\nRSS feeds do. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication
\nand it is a great way to get your content on the web.
\nJust think of it as a proactive method rather than a
\npassive method. RSS pushes your content out to all those
\nwho want to receive it. It’s like broadcasting your content,
\ninstead of just having it sitting on a static HTML page.<\/p>\n

5.<\/b> – Keyword anchor links embedded in the content of your
\nblog posts. Again, this is another one of those recent
\nSEO changes which affect the importance search engines
\nplace on your backlinks. Years ago, backlinks coming at
\nthe end of a post or article were good enough. However,
\nthese days, search engines like Google are looking for
\nmore natural backlinks that appear throughout the whole
\nbody of your material, especially in the first couple of
\nparagraphs. Blogs give you the perfect chance to embed
\nyour backlinks directly into your content so that you can
\nreap the SEO advantages.<\/p>\n

Now, these are just 5 SEO reasons to have a WordPress
\nblog or blogging software on your site. There are other
\nSEO benefits such as allowing “comments” from users which
\ncan add to the content of your site. These comments are
\nalso judged by the search engines to see if you have a
\nlive active blog or community. The only drawback, I have
\nfound comment spam to be a problem, especially on a high
\nranked site. But you can put software in place to cut down
\non the amount of spam you get.<\/p>\n

Another whole issue is Pingbacks\/Trackbacks and how they can
\naffect your rankings or SEO efforts. These are like backlinks
\nbut I usually manually inspect these links to determine their
\nquality and whether or not I want to accept them. But again, it’s
\nanother way using a WordPress blog can have SEO benefits.<\/p>\n

So even if you’re not a tech person, I would suggest
\nyou put a WordPress blog on your site or if that’s too
\nmuch trouble you can always just create a free blog
\nhosted on the WordPress.com site. Regardless, this is a
\ngreat way to boost the SEO factors associated with your
\nsite.

\nis to simply use the free hosted service at WordPress.com
\n– just follow the instructions on the site.<\/p>\n

The other way is a little more complicated… you
\nhave to download the WordPress Software first from
\nthe .org site.<\/p>\n

And then follow their instructions in the download…<\/p>\n
