How To Use A Google Sitemap?<\/b><\/p>\n


\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A sitemap is just a list of all the URLs or pages
\non your site. Search engines use these sitemaps
\nto help index your site.<\/p>\n

That’s basically what a sitemap is and what it does.<\/p>\n

If you have a small site (less than 500 pages)
\none of the fastest and simplest ways to get
\nor generate a sitemap is to use this site:<\/p>\n

http:\/\/www.xml-sitemaps.com<\/a><\/p>\n

Go to that link and put in your site’s URL
\nand it will generate a sitemap for you within
\na few minutes. It will give you an XML file of
\nall the URLs on your site.<\/p>\n

Upload your XML sitemap file to your server
\nwhere your site is located. Then check this
\nfile in a few browsers such as Firefox,
\nGoogle Chrome… to see if it is displayed
\nproperly.<\/p>\n

Few other things you might want to do to make
\nsure search engines find your sitemap. You can
\nsubmit your sitemap to Google’s Webmasters Tool.<\/p>\n

In addition, you can give a “Priority” to how
\nyou want the search engines to rank your page
\nWITHIN your own site. Your main homepage would
\nbe “1” and the other pages can be prioritized
\nto the way you want them.<\/p>\n

Of course, there is much more to Sitemaps then
\nthis simple example. What if you have a site
\nthat is constantly updating and adding pages
\neach day?<\/p>\n

Then you’re probably going to have to install
\na sitemap generator on your server – which
\ncan get a little complicated, especially if
\nyou’re not good with handling scripts.<\/p>\n
