Years ago, when I first started with my online websites I
\nhad no clue “whatsoever” about SEO or even keywords for that
\nmatter. But it didn’t take me long before I was daily checking
\nmy traffic logs to find out what “specific” keywords searchers
\nwere using to find my site and webpages.<\/p>\n

Naturally, most of my then modest traffic was coming from
\nGoogle, so I concentrated all my time on those keywords. I
\nsoon found that visitors using certain keyword phrases clicked
\nmy affiliate links more often than regular traffic… and a
\nlarge percentage of those clicks resulted in a sale or lead
\nfor my promoted company.<\/p>\n

This one technique is how I have earned my money from the web.<\/b><\/p>\n

I took those targeted keyword phrases and wrote articles\/blog
\nposts around those keywords to make sure my site or webpage
\nrank in the top 5 in Google for that phrase – the higher the
\nbetter. For long-tail (3 or 4 words) keyword phrases this is
\nquite easy because usually, no one else is taking the time and
\neffort to rank for these keywords.<\/p>\n

But the “key” to all this working is the search data in my
\ntraffic logs coming from Google. What if Google suddenly
\nencrypted or kept this data secret? It would be game over
\nright?<\/p>\n

Well, Google has done exactly that – started encrypting
\ncertain keyword search data. At the moment, this encryption
\nis only being applied to around 10% to 12% of search data –
\nfrom those logged in members of Google search.<\/p>\n

However, is this just the start of Google eliminating all
\nkeyword tracking and referrer data returned to webmasters?<\/b><\/p>\n

Google says no, this is just a “privacy issue” related
\nto their logged-in members. They want to keep those
\nsearches private.<\/p>\n

Webmasters, SEOs and marketers are not so sure and doubt
\nGoogle will stop at just 10%… mainly because Google
\nusually rolls out stuff to test the waters before they
\ndive in completely. Is the same scenario happening here
\n– could we see the end of keyword tracking?<\/p>\n

Even more alarming, Google has stated that their Adwords
\ncustomers will still get this keyword data. Now we can
\nsee a much more viable reason Google is eliminating this
\ndata. If marketers\/webmasters can’t get this information
\nfrom free organic search, paying for this information
\nvia Adwords can be more than economically feasible.<\/p>\n

It also makes the Google Adwords program much more
\nvaluable and attractive – remember, this is Google’s
\nbread and butter flagship. This ship has just become
\nmuch more golden.<\/p>\n
