If you run a website you’re probably very concerned with
\nthe amount of traffic your site is receiving. One of the most
\ncommon questions from webmasters is this:<\/p>\n
How much traffic do you need for your site to be
\nsuccessful?<\/p>\n
Of course, how you answer that question will be
\ndirectly related to what the objectives of your
\nsite are? What are your goals? Do you want to
\nearn revenue from your site or do you have it
\njust as a hobby to build up a community of like-minded
\nindividuals?<\/p>\n
I believe a common misconception is that you need
\na lot of traffic to earn an online income. In many
\ncases this is not true. There are plenty of sites earning
\ngood revenue with only 100 visitors a day.<\/p>\n
If you have a site promoting your own product or
\nproducts you only need 2 or 3 of those visitors to
\nturn into paying customers to earn a healthy daily
\nincome. Develop those customers into long-term
\nbuyers of your products and you can plainly see
\nyou don’t need that much traffic to succeed.<\/p>\n
Even if you’re promoting affiliate products like
\nme, a site receiving only 100 visitors can be just
\nas profitable as a site receiving 2000 visitors a
\nday. It just depends on how targeted the traffic coming
\nto your site is and how ready they’re to buy from
\nyou. Needless to say, selling big-ticket items also
\nhelps to increase your income.<\/p>\n
Much of the quality of your traffic is determined
\nby how well you have optimized your pages to receive
\nonly the interested “ready to buy” visitors. You really
\nhave to “pre-sell” your site or product BEFORE the
\nvisitor comes to your site.<\/p>\n
One of my most effective ways of “pre-selling” is thru
\nsimple article marketing. I write simple short informative
\nkeyworded articles on the products or sites I am promoting.
\nThis draws in only people who are actively seeking my content
\nand products. They’re in the right mind-set to buy.<\/p>\n
Even small amounts of traffic can be profitable if the
\nconversion rate is high. Some online marketers can even
\nearn a living by using small amounts of traffic from
\nthe PPC search engines. Although this can be risky
\nfor the beginning webmaster or online marketer – you
\nhave to know what you’re doing or you can lose your
\nshirt.<\/p>\n
So what if you have a website and you don’t have enough
\ntraffic and you want more?<\/p>\n
Here are some of the methods I use to get more traffic:<\/p>\n
. Write articles and distribute them all over the web<\/p>\n
. Construct more pages on your sites directed at long-tail keywords<\/p>\n
. Participate in online forums and communities related to your sites<\/p>\n
. Use PPC advertising in Google Adwords, Yahoo! & Microsoft Adcenter<\/p>\n
. Run Follow-up messages to keep subscribers coming back to your sites<\/p>\n
. Run a weekly newsletter to do the same thing<\/p>\n
. Use social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, Digg…<\/p>\n
. Participate in online blogs connected with your sites<\/p>\n
Plus, you must also remember getting links, even reciprocal
\nlinks on popular sites will bring in a lot of traffic. So too
\nwill placing your links in FaceBook, MySpace, Linkedin… the more
\nlinks you can build the more traffic you will receive. Many
\nwebmasters forget links are also about getting traffic as
\nwell as for SEO benefits.<\/p>\n
One of the best strategies for getting more traffic is to
\nbe persistent. Build your traffic up over a period of
\nmonths, even years. Keep at it. Keep increasing your daily
\nnumbers until you’re satisfied with your results. And always
\nremember, even a small amount of targeted traffic can work wonders.<\/p>\n

Of all the things I have done to get more traffic
\nto my sites – this simple method has really produced
\nresults. Some years ago I started adding the “AddThis.com”
\nbutton to all my sites and content.<\/p>\n
This is a simple free program that lets your visitors
\nbookmark your content in all the social bookmarking\/media
\nsites like Facebook, MySpace, Digg, Google Bookmarks…
\nsomething so simple but it actually works.<\/p>\n
You just add the code to your webpages and visitors can
\nuse this AddThis button to bookmark your content. If you’re
\nnot doing this, you’re missing out on a lot of free
\ntargeted visitors to your site.<\/p>\n
