The Internet is such an unknown commodity anything
\nis possible. One of the most intriguing questions
\nconcerns the idea of a perpetual traffic machine.
\nCreate a website and design a system of automatic
\nprograms (both interior and exterior) that delivers
\ncontent and backlinks to a site that updates itself
\nautomatically and keeps growing without any help
\nfrom the creator. In the process you build a flow
\nof traffic that never stops, even if the site is
\nabandoned or not touched for a couple of years or
\nnever again. <\/p>\n
Is such a perpetual traffic system really possible?<\/b> <\/p>\n
Before you conjure up pictures of HAL and creepy
\ntalking computers in distant space… realize that
\nquestion may carry more weight than it would seem
\nat first glance. But is it like its predecessor,
\nthe perpetual motion machine – just more an illusion
\nthan actual fact? <\/p>\n
For curiosity’s sake if for nothing else, the idea
\nof a perpetual traffic machine does require further
\ninvestigation. Such a system would have special
\ninterest for millions of webmasters whose main task
\nis acquiring traffic for their sites, not to mention
\nthe potential for monetary gain a PTM (rhymes with ATM)
\nwould produce. <\/p>\n
Some credence was given to the idea recently when
\nTinu Abayomi-Paul, a well-known online free traffic
\nexpert, produced with the help of Marlon Sanders an
\ninfo-product entitled “The Evergreen Traffic Machine.”<\/p>\n

\na few tips to create your own eternal traffic machine: <\/p>\n
1. <\/b>Build lists and pre-load your AR system with follow-up
\nmessages to keep visitors coming back to your site. You
\ncan rotate these messages and ask your subscribers to
\nopt-in to different lists on related subject areas.
\nAlways ask your readers to recommend your content to
\nothers. <\/p>\n
2.<\/b> Use social bookmark software or links so that your
\nvisitors can easily bookmark your content which brings
\nin both new links and new traffic. Simple programs like
\nthe one offered by Addthis.com will get your visitors
\nbuilding your backlinks for you, bringing in fresh
\nvisitors who in turn will also bookmark your content. <\/p>\n
3. <\/b>Write viral articles, reports and ebooks that have
\nyour backlinks in the resource boxes. Likewise, viral
\nsoftware programs can help bring a constant flow of
\ntraffic to your site. If your content is of a high
\nquality and your themes universal… new sites will
\npick up your content and build your backlinks, creating
\nfresh traffic. The search engines will also index these
\nnew links and your rankings will increase, bringing in
\nmore traffic. <\/p>\n
4.<\/b> Use blogging and RSS feeds to get your content out
\nthere. You can also use these RSS feeds to bring in
\nnew fresh content to your site. Creating new content

\nComments in your blogs could bring in unique content but
\nif you’re not monitoring them, you must have solid

5.<\/b> Have “Tell a Friend” forms on all your content.
\nThis will bring new traffic to your site, which can
\nbe self-refreshing as new people discover your content. <\/p>\n
6.<\/b> Encourage user generated content such as articles,
\ncomments, posts… you can even have a community
\nmonitoring system where your site’s members monitor
\nthis new content. <\/p>\n
7. <\/b>Form JV alliances with webmasters in your related
\nfield. Do co-registration so that you help build each
\nother’s lists and traffic. <\/p>\n
8.<\/b> Likewise, if you have products to sell, create an
\naffiliate program to get your affiliates to build your
\ntraffic for you. Affiliates are an excellent source of
\npermanent traffic. <\/p>\n
9.<\/b> Automate all aspects of the running and managing
\nof your website. Set up automatic payments for your
\nAR system, hosting, domain renewal, PPC payments…
\nthru PayPal or credit card. Likewise, receive affiliate
\ncommissions thru PayPal or direct deposit. Many
\nadvertising programs like Google Adsense offer

10.<\/b> PPC Traffic – While we have mainly looked at free
\ntraffic systems, don’t forget creating a PTM is relatively
\neasy with Pay Per Click advertising if you know what you’re
\ndoing. Target less competitive keywords to keep your costs
\ndown, tie this traffic into a good squeeze page for feeding
\nyour AR system with leads and have a good landing page that
\nconverts. You can create a system that delivers perpetual
\ntraffic and pays for itself from your affiliate commissions
\nand advertising fees. <\/p>\n
In summary, the argument for the existence of the PTM
\nmainly relies upon the quality of your content or site.
\nIs it unique enough to draw in new visitors? Does your
\ntopic have universal appeal that people never tire of?
\nDoes it solve or offer advice on a common human problem?
\nWill or does it have a viral “word of mouth” element to it? <\/p>\n
As we move to a more and more automated world, all the
\nautomated programs and hardware are in place for the
\ncreation of such perpetual machines. <\/p>\n
Computers, autoresponders, content management software,
\nRSS feeds, viral marketing, direct deposit, automatic
\npayments… and the list goes on. If we haven’t already
