Yahoo! Search Marketing Allows Direct Linking

Yahoo! Search Marketing Allows Direct Linking

Through the hard work of Commission Junction,
(who has a lot to gain from this change) YSM
or Yahoo! Search Marketing now allows direct
linking to their advertisers.

Here’s the direct passage or article that
appeared in the CJ Newsletter:

“After more than six months in the making and much
customer feedback and testing, we are pleased to
announce that Yahoo! Search Marketing (YSM) has
recently updated its editorial policies and will
now allow U.S. publishers to direct link to their
advertisers. In the past, YSM’s editorial policy
prevented publishers from linking directly to their
advertiser partners and required that traffic be sent
first to the publisher’s Web site. The new policy
eliminates this restriction and opens a much broader
search marketing opportunity for publishers.

This YSM policy change is the result of a strong
relationship between Commission Junction and YSM.
We have spent more than six months working with YSM
to enact the new editorial policy and are very pleased
that this effort has resulted in changes that are
sure to create opportunities for our publishers and
advertisers.

We find this policy change exciting on several levels.
First, this is a significant shift for YSM and could
be a great opportunity for your search marketing campaigns.
Second, you heard it here first – YSM has asked us to
communicate this change to the affiliate community.
Third, the work we’ve done with YSM on this policy
change is just another example of our commitment to
listening to and speaking up for our publishers.

So, if you’re running search marketing campaigns but
have left YSM out of your marketing mix, now is a
great time to expand your efforts.”
This is an enormous and significant change if
you’re into PPC advertising… imagine linking
directing to Amazon instead of going through a
landing page.

It opens up a whole new marketing strategy for
those who are actively using YSM.  If I recall
correctly, Microsoft’s adCenter already offers
this feature.

Yahoo! is also offers something that’s a little
unique if you’re into affiliate marketing with its
affiliate program. You can promote one link and if
your referral signs up for any other product or service
you earn commissions on these as well…
Yahoo! Consumer Products

HotJobs – Job application submission
Mail Plus – Mail Plus account purchase
Toolbar – Completed Download

Yahoo! Business Products

Search Marketing – Search Marketing account purchase
Web Hosting – Web Hosting purchase
Ecommerce – Merchant Solution purchase
HotJobs – Employer new job listing submission
Granted, your referral is only good for 45 days
but it is the right step in the right direction,
it increases your chances of earning extra income
if you’re an affiliate marketer.

Still, it is a long way from what some professional
marketers are offering, Marlon Sanders “Cookie
For Life” comes readily to mind. Other marketers
offer similar terms where once you make a
referrer, you continue to earn for the lifetime
of that referral.

SBI run by Ken Evoy is still one of the best webhosting/marketing deals
on the web. Comprehensive marketing system for the beginner marketer
or business person.

I built my 8th online site with SBI just to check it out and
see for myself exactly what this marketing system has to offer.
I was totally impressed by marketing features and wealth of knowledge
behind SBI.

For a seasoned marketer like myself (at least I like to consider myself
a seasoned marketer, others may disagree) who earns a very comfortable
living online with numerous profitable websites – trying SBI was
like taking a step backward.

Granted, I knew most of the marketing stuff and SEO tactics involved
with SBI which has made SBI sites some of the top-ranked sites
on the web but I was surprised by the extensive online SBI community.

This for me, is SBI strongest card – you have access not only
to the latest marketing tools but also a whole community of online
marketers ready to help you out. This loyalty among the SBI community
is extremely strong and vibrant.

The heart or core of SBI is this online community which is run
by Ken Evoy, one of the most respected online marketers on the
web. It will give any marketer, beginner or experienced – an online
advantage over any competition!

This is what you’re really buying when you join SBI – the 2 for 1
annual Christmas Deal is just icing on the cake.

Hello world! We’re Back!

The Perfect Internet Marketing Disaster

If you’re wondering why this blog is looking a little
bare right now – it’s because we had a major melt-down
last week. The hosting company that this site was hosted
on – disappeared overnight!

Actually, it was a very good hosting company until it
was taken over by new owners… why the company was shut
down is still a mystery…

However, some important lessons were learnt the hard way.

Some things you should always do when running a website
or online business:

* Make sure your know your hosting company, more importantly,
make sure you know what is happening with the company and
watch out for any changes in ownership. Any company is only
is as good as the people running it.

* Back Up, Back Up, Back Up, – all your files and content on
your own computer and on a disc. Keep them updated.

* First and foremost make sure you have complete control
over your domain.
This means you are the administrative
contact as well as the domain registrant. Make sure
you own your domain and not your hosting company.

* Don’t register your domain with any hosting company,
(unless that company is also a Domain Registrar) such as
Enom or GoDaddy.

If you have complete control over your domain you can
just switch hosting companies and be up and running in
a few days.

You might still be asking why this blog is so bare…
you must also remember to back-up any online databases
you have on your site such as those with WordPress.
Such things as forums, blogs, subscriber lists…

Or you’re end with a bare looking blog and a very
worried look on your face…
