Using Google Authorship Markup for Visibility and List Building

Kiss Me I'm Google

Google Authorship – Now For Something Completely Different
Written by

For some time now, I have been trying to get my Google Authorship
“markup” to work with my online content. Years ago, I went through
all the directions from Google and had my name/content verified by the
big G or so I thought. Google Author Markup

However, back then Google did not display my picture and link
to my Google+ profile or even to my old Google profile – remember
those. I didn’t worry, it was just something else I would get around
and fix when time allowed.

Quite frankly, I didn’t take Google Authorship all that seriously.

Why you ask?

Mainly because, I had been conditioned by the countless programs
offered by Google and then only to find out they had been canceled
months later… anyone remember Google Buzz?

Then came the latest bombshell – Google would be using Authorship
as a ranking factor. How important a ranking factor remains to be
seen but as we move away from the old SEO factors and links – your
authorship profile and the number of readers/followers you have
in your Google+ circles will take on much more importance.

Feels like the whole SEO game has changed when it now comes to ranking
in Google… it is no longer about Links and PageRank, but about
how large of an online readership or following you have in not only
Google+, but Twitter, Facebook, YouTube… and the other social networks.

So getting your Google Authorship and picture displayed with your
content is crucial for success on the new web. Don’t forget about
link building but just make sure Google is displaying your picture
and details in their SERPs.

It’s no big secret that for Google, the web user’s experience is
paramount. The better that experience, the higher your Google rankings,
will be.

Just recently, Google started ranking higher those YouTube videos
where watchers stayed the longest… regardless of how many views
or links, it is the videos which command the longest viewing times
being ranked the highest.

The same thing is being applied to general web content and sites…
the content where viewers spend the longest time seems to be ranked
higher. This is common sense – forget about how many links the content
has; if viewers spend two seconds judging it and clicks away – how good
is this content really?

However, if a viewer clicks the link and spends 5, 10 or 20 minutes
reading the content, chances are high the content is exactly what the
viewer is searching for and results in good user experience. Over time,
Google with its constant flow of data and stats can easily rank the
content which supplies the best user experience.

They have always been important factors but now – time spent on site,
bounce rates and even page load times – take on a whole new significance
for ranking high in Google.

That’s why building a large loyal online readership or following can
be vital for the success of your content and site. It’s no longer about
how many links you have but about how many readers/followers/fans you have.

Thankfully, Google is now displaying my Authorship Profile in their SERPs.

As far as I can gather, my main problem was initially signing up to my
Google+ account through my gMail account. A Big mistake!

This makes it easier for Google to verify you and your content.

Eventually I did sync my Google+, Google Chrome, Google Profile, gMail
account… all under one Google identity. But I wasted a lot of valuable
time in building my online readership though Google Authorship in the
meanwhile. Kick myself number 245.

Another issue which could cause problems. Make sure you add

to all your articles and content you want displayed with Google Authorship.
In other words, just adding your name or Google+ may not be enough – make
sure you add “by” followed by your Google+ name/link.

I also found it helpful to link to your new content via your Google+ account
and also you can use the LABS section in your Google Webmaster Tools to verify
or list your content links.

Another issue I found concerned my mugshot or photo in my Google+ account,
for some reason the software wasn’t picking up a person! So I changed my
image and made sure it fitted the size requirements Google needed. 250px x 250px

Since I write articles and content for other sites, mainly SiteProNews, it
was very important to have my Google Authorship up and running. Not only for
online rankings or visibility but my main reason was list building.

Google Authorship can be the perfect vehicle for building your list of contacts
and not just through your Google+ account, but your own list of contacts which
you totally control.

In essence, the whole Google Authorship program, is a move to a more social
based ranking system. A move away from SEO or online site factors to more emphasis
being placed on the author or the creator of web content. It’s not exactlythe sites
which are important, but the quality of the author’s writing and content which
are important.

This small shift could mean a big difference on the new web.

5 Reasons Why You Should Use An AutoResponder

5 Reasons Why You Should Use An AutoResponder

If I had to pick one marketing tool which makes working on the
web a reality for me, I would have to say it’s the autoresponder.

Truth be told, it is the heart/engine that drives all my websites and
all my marketing. Building a list of interested customers is the
key to making sales and for getting repeated targeted traffic
back to your site.

It’s just common sense, a visitor to your site only spends a
few minutes examining your content, but if they subscribe to
your newsletter or sign-up to receive follow-up emails from you,
then you can contact them again and again.

You can build numerous lists for all your sites, targeting each group
with different information that they need and want. You can have
hundreds, even thousands of interested prospects coming back to
your sites.

Now if you need more convincing how important autoresponders and
list building are to your online site and marketing… here are
5 Reasons To Use A Professional AutoResponder Service.

Please Note – If you’re just starting out and money is tight and
you simply can’t afford to pay for a professional service. Then do
what I did, I first started with a free autoresponder service
(www.freeautobot.com) and then when I could afford it I quickly
upgraded to a professional service simply because of the
reasons listed below…

5 Reasons To Use A Professional AutoResponder Service

If you have a website or if you’re running an online business, you will
already know the importance of building your own list of contacts and
customers. List building is a vital part of any business, online or off.
It can simply make or break your business, so it is very important you
use the proper procedures to gather your list of contacts.

With this in mind, many webmasters and business owners opt for a
professional autoresponder service rather than using an in-house
system. There are many reasons for choosing either option, but
going with a third party service has many advantages. So here are
5 good reasons why you should use a professional service.

1. Professionalism. These list building services, such as
aWeber and GetResponse, are leading specialists in their field and
supply a superior product. They know how to build lists, it is their
business. They have been doing it for years and follow all the proper
procedures so you don’t have to worry about breaking any spam laws.
Furthermore, they have the resources to handle any list building
projects, no matter how big. These services are also recognized by
everyone and have gained a good reputation with users.

2. Full Featured Services. These professional autoresponder
services have countless features which will help you build your lists
easily and quickly. Everything from pop-in forms to unlimited follow-up
emails, these services cover all the bases and will optimize your list
building to help you get the most contacts or subscribers possible.

3. Third Party Protection. Outsourcing your email sending and
follow-up to a third party service or site can help protect your site
from any spam complaints which can shut down your site. Besides following
“double opt-in” procedures, these services will also keep records of
subscribers who sign-up to your lists, including of course email addresses
but also sign-up times and IP addresses – just in case there should be
any trouble regarding these subscribers. Most services also make it
extremely easy to unsubscribe any contacts.

4. Automation And Scheduling. With these services you can easily
schedule your mailings to your contacts, this can be great for pre-loading
an autoresponder to gradually send your emails out over a period of time,
great for when you go on vacation or for planning long-term campaigns.
Automating all your list building should be your ultimate goal, set it
up once and forget about it.

5. Higher Click-Thru Rates. These professional list building
services will work with you to help improve both your sign-up numbers
and your click-thru rates of the emails you send to your contacts.
It must not be forgotten that these are professional services and
have years of experience which can be applied to your own contact
building so that you can reap the rewards of all this experience.
These services want you to succeed and will offer what assistance
you need in order for you to be a success – what more can you ask for?

For all of the above reasons, you should give a professional
autoresponder service some serious consideration when you start
building your lists. Going with the Pros may just be the right
option for you or your business and putting your list building
in the hands of professionals may just be a wise move for your
site or business.

Here’s the autoresponder I have used for years:

List Building Tips For The Affiliate Marketer

BWMagic’s Internet Marketing News

List Building Tips For The Affiliate Marketer

List building is one simple marketing strategy any affiliate marketer
can use to increase traffic and sales. But there are a few simple things
you can do to make your list building and affiliate marketing much
more effective…

If you’re into affiliate marketing you will probably already know how
important list building is to your overall success. However, I sometimes
get the feeling from close examination of my competitor’s sites that
list building takes a back seat in their site layout and design.
One also gets the general feeling that list building is not as important
as it once was, especially in the early days of online marketing before
the advent of so many social media/networking sites.

Granted for the ordinary webmaster, in the age of Twitter, Facebook and
YouTube, building your own personal autoresponder lists have taken a
backseat to these social networking sites which obviously builds your
subscriber list for you. But these are third-party sites controlling
your subscribers and while they more or less eliminates the whole notion
of unwanted spam, they do present issues regarding the use of these lists.

Coming from the old school of marketing, I realized the importance of
my lists from the start. I also realized the most difficult part of building
a list was not getting the subscribers, but connecting in some way with
them and building trusting relationships with lists in the tens of thousands
is not an easy thing to accomplish.

List building in regards to affiliate marketing is of special interest
to me since I am a full-time affiliate marketer and anything which makes
my job easier I will try. Like most affiliate marketers, I have created
niche sites dealing with the products and services which I promote. One
major component of these sites is the list building element. On almost
all my sites I try to capture my visitor’s contact information to give
follow-up information which lets me market to these subscribers in a
very subtle way.

The important thing here is to offer free ebooks, guides or e-courses in
order to capture this contact information before these customers are sent
along to the merchant’s site. This is the “old squeeze page” which many
online marketers use in order to build their own list of potential prospects
for their offers.

This must be a “win-win” situation for everyone involved so I like
connecting these lists to special sales, coupons and deals which are
offered by the merchants. These customers can get $100’s off the price
of the products featured so that they end up with a good deal and you
end up with a sale.

All this couldn’t be possible if you didn’t build your list of targeted
clients or customers looking for the products you’re promoting. List
building in this area has proven very effective for my affiliate marketing,
so effective I try to put my subscriber form or box on all my webpages.
So if you’re an affiliate marketer who is sending your visitors directly
to your merchant’s site, think again, and see if building or capturing
your visitor’s contact information is worth your while? If done properly,
this can be an excellent way of increasing your sales and commissions.

Another form of list building which I believe too many affiliate marketers
take for granted is the powerful little “cookie”. For those not in the
business, a cookie is simply a piece of code which identifies your referrals
as belonging to you or your affiliate ID, if a sale is made immediately
or for any time in the future you will get credit for the sale because
you referred the customer or client.

Now, the trick here is to pick affiliate products and programs which
have a 90 Day Cookie or more; if a sale is made in those 90 days you
get credit for the sale. The longer the length the better, there are
even some products and companies which give life-time cookies.

Why is this so important you ask?

Well, if you have a popular site you can quickly build up a long list of
potential customers cookied with your affiliate IDs. The larger the list,
the more sales you will make. Affiliate marketing is a numbers game,
the more numbers you have, the easier it is to succeed. I have found
this so profitable that I try to “cookie” all the lists I build in the
process mentioned above, so that all these potential customers have my
affiliate IDs attached.

So it doesn’t take a genius to realize, used in combination, this can be
an extremely profitable form of list building which every affiliate marketer
should be doing if they haven’t already figured out this simple marketing
strategy. Build your lists, cookie your lists, and then sit back and reap
the rewards.
