5 Top Traffic Sources For Your Site

I believe if you asked any webmaster or online marketer what their
most important aspect of running a site would be, you would get an
answer that’s some way related to traffic. Mainly because traffic
is your site’s lifeblood, actually without traffic you really don’t
have a site at all.

Traffic brings in the leads and the sales. Quality traffic is what
produces your online revenue, whether from advertising or from sales
on your site.

Traffic is king.

Now, I have sites which get less than 50 visitors a day, I have a few
sites which get around 200 visitors a day and I have one site which
gets around 2,000 visitors a day.

Don’t jump to any conclusions, some days the site getting 50 visitors
can make just as much as the site getting 2,000 visitors. It all has
to do with the quality of the traffic and how well it converts into
a sale. And of course, it all depends on what you’re selling… a lcd
cleaning kit for $20 bucks or a gaming laptop which sell for $2000+.

Regardless, you have to get that traffic in the first place if you
want to earn an online income. The more traffic you have, usually,
the more you will make; at least this has been my experience. Since
traffic is very important to me, I keep a lot of records and stats on
where my traffic is coming from on the web. I have to know what produces
the quality traffic and how to get it.

Now, below I have listed down my 5 most important traffic sources
and/or the marketing techniques I use to get that traffic. This list
might also help you with your own traffic and how you can increase it.

Here are my 5 main traffic sources…

1. SEO and the Search Engines

The majority of the traffic to my sites comes from the search engines,
mainly Google. It is my high rankings for my targeted keyword phrases
which brings in the most and the best quality traffic to my sites. Get
the SEO right and build a lot of quality one-way links from related
sites and you will get the traffic. Another tactic, don’t just create
a website with only 10 or 20 pages – create one with 1000 to 5000 pages.
I know this takes time but consider your site like a long-term business
which you will keep building for years. Produce plenty of quality content
and you will get plenty of quality visitors in return. Works for me.

2. Article Marketing

Another very effective way to bring in quality traffic to your site or
sites is article marketing. Just write short articles related to your
site’s keywords and place your keyworded links in the resource box.
Distribute these articles all over the web. Right now, what is working
for me, is writing unique articles which I only place on one important
site. I am using this technique with sites like SiteProNews, Buzzle and
many more. Article marketing is still one of the most effective ways to
get quality traffic, just try it.

3. PPC – Pay Per Click Advertising

I know, I know, this can be very expensive but PPC can be the quickest
way to get quality traffic to your sites. Just be careful and approach
it with kid’s gloves until you find campaigns which work for you – then
scale them up. Microsoft Adcenter and Yahoo Marketing have now joined
forces and I find this is producing good traffic for me. Google adwords
is probably better but they are a real pain to work with and have become
too expensive, at least for my keywords. But if you have the resources,
don’t rule out Adwords or any of the PPC programs.

4. Social Media Sites

From Facebook to Twitter to Linkedin, social media sites can provide a
lot of traffic and word of mouth advertising for your site. For me, even
though I haven’t worked these sites to their fullest potential, I still
get traffic from them. Getting your pages bookmarked in some of these
sites can bring in a flood of traffic overnight, while most of this traffic
will be temporary, you can get a lot of sign-ups to your newsletter and
different follow-up lists. While not exactly in the same group, I have
had some success with YouTube videos which also bring in targeted traffic.
Don’t ignore these social media and video sites in your traffic strategies.

5. Email Marketing and Follow-up Lists

This is another one of my major sources of “repeat visitors” to my sites.
You must be constantly building up your different contact lists for further
follow-up. This will bring in more visitors than you would expect, especially
if you put some simple viral messages in your emails. If you supply valuable
information, people will recommend your content to friends and co-workers;
again word of mouth can bring in a lot of traffic especially in this age
of Facebook and Twitter.

Of course, there are many more traffic sources such as Press Releases, Banner Ads,
RSS Feeds, Off-line Advertising… and if you have your own products to promote,
affiliates and joint ventures will be your most valuable source of traffic. Over
the years I have picked up a lot of information on traffic and traffic tips…

Simple Way To Build Backlinks Via Google Alerts

Simple Way To Build Backlinks Via Google Alerts

One of the most important factors in how high your site
ranks in the search engines are backlinks from other theme
related web sites and blogs. While other SEO factors do matter
and should not be ignored – it’s the number of quality related
backlinks your page has that will largely determine how high
it is ranked.

Over the years I have examined countless ways to build
these quality backlinks, but one of the best ways is also
one of the simplest to do.

The trick is to get quality links directly related to the
keywords of your site or page. You need links from other
highly ranked pages for your targeted keywords. If your
site is on “golf clubs” then you need links from sites
which carry or talk about golf clubs and golf equipment.

Now, one way to get links besides typing your keywords
into a search such as Google and then contacting the
high ranked sites which pop up – you can do that too
but I like doing it another way.

And it’s just as simple, I simply create Google Alerts
for my targeted keyword phrases and every time a new
site page or blog post is created and INDEXED by Google
– Google sends me an email.

I then check out these new pages to see if I can get a
link. Many of these new pages will be on blogs so you
can easily leave a comment with your link. Now again,
site owners are not stupid, you must add valuable content
or information in your comments or they will just get

Most times, if you join in the discussion and add your
two cents… most site owners will accept your links.
But it has to be true interaction with what’s being
discussed on the page.

It is this interaction and socializing that’s important
because the search engines are moving in the same
direction as the general surfing public – towards
the social networks.

As you probably have heard already, Facebook for the
first time is ranked higher than Google and took the
top spot. These social networks are where the traffic
is and fortunately they are also a great way to build
your links.

Commenting is an important part of these social sites
and you have to get your site into the mix. You have
to join in on the discussion.

One of the best ways is to create keyword alerts here:

Google Alerts

and when Google emails links related to your site’s keywords
– check out some of the links and see if you can get a
few backlinks. Do this for a period of time and you will
get those all important theme related quality backlinks.
Besides doing this is also a good way of getting quality
traffic back to your site.

Crashing The Traffic Party – How To Use The World’s Top Sites To Promote Your Own Site

BWMagic’s Internet Marketing News!

o Crashing The Traffic Party – How To Use The World’s Top Sites
To Promote Your Own Site

Most times, common sense is the only Internet marketing strategy you need.
All you have to do is use some simple reasoning to achieve your goals, many
times it is only a matter of using your head to figure out the easiest route
to success.

For example, one of the hardest obstacles to overcome for most webmasters
is getting enough traffic to their sites. You need traffic if your site is
to succeed – plain and simple. You must have traffic and lots of it.

It doesn’t take a genius to realize, in order to get traffic you must go to
the places/sites that have the majority of the traffic on the web. These top
sites command enormous amounts of traffic each day and they get thousands
of visitors each second.

So it stands to reason, you must put or place your site into this whole traffic
mix of these top sites. Fortunately, this is very easily done without too
much work on your part, but it may mean joining many of these top sites and
doing some self-promotion.

First up, you have to tackle the search engines which represent or controls
much of the quality traffic on the web. People use these sites to find what
they’re looking for on the net, you must get your site listed/ranked on these
search engines, especially Google.

Google is the number one site in the world and until Bing/Yahoo replaces it,
you must gear your site towards Google. This is not difficult, actually it
is quite simple. One of the keys to getting listed and ranked well in this top
site of the web is quality unique content. Just create unique quality
content on your site and Google will notice you and send you traffic.

I like taking a holistic approach to Google, it is not simply a search
engine, it is much, much more. You have to tie your site into all the many
different facets of Google – use iGoogle to create your profile,
use Google Products to promote your products, use YouTube to promote
your videos, use Google News to promote your latest news or articles,
use Google Docs to promote your PDF files and ebooks, use Blogger to
promote your blogs and RSS feeds… and the list goes on.

By incorporating or totally immersing your site into the Google online
juggernaut, you will receive plenty of quality traffic. I also like to
connect my sites with the commercial side of Google by using Adwords
and buying search traffic. I also use Google Adsense on my sites to
off-set the cost of buying that traffic. Actually, truth be told, I spend
the majority of my time – adjusting, optimizing and promoting my content
within Google.

We have to go back to the common sense factor again, my traffic logs
and stats show that Google sends me around 80% of my traffic. It is
only natural that I concentrate on optimizing my site and content
to please Google. But that doesn’t mean I ignore the other search
engines or the other top sites on the web, just the opposite is true.

Mainly because Google has a complex algorithm they use to rank sites and
content on the web. One major overriding part of these 200 or so ranking
factors is how well your site is connected with other sites/content on the
web. Getting backlinks from high PR sites is vital for achieving high
rankings. Webpages are given PageRank from 0 to 10, with 10 being the best.

Now, by activily connecting/promoting your site within the top
sites on the web, you’re telling Google your site is important.
Moreover, web users are telling Google your site/content is important
and relevant. Getting backlinks on top sites like Wikipedia, YouTube,,… will tell Google your content matters to web surfers.
Likewise, getting your content bookmarked in all the social networking
sites like Facebook, MySpace, Digg, Flickr, Twitter… will tell Google
and the other search engines your content is relevant.

Proving that your content is relevant will be one of the major keys
to getting top rankings, especially in Google. Therefore, connecting
your content with all the major sites on the web makes sense, no matter
how you view it. Having your content discussed, bookmarked and linked
to will make all the difference in the world to the success of your

Now, as mentioned before, getting your site/content connected and linked
from these top sites is not difficult. Simply join many of these sites
and create profiles, submit content, add your links and so on. Another
way is to make it easy for your site’s content to be bookmarked in many
of these top social media sites. I like using a simple button like the one
from which makes it easy for your visitors to bookmark your
content for you. Again, common sense and simple practicality wins the day.

So is your site well connected to the top sites on the web? Does
it have a presence in all these high volume traffic sites? If the
answer is no, then your site is probably missing out on a lot of
free traffic which it could be getting. Just make a conscience effort
to involve and connect your site/content with many of these top
sites on the web. You will be pleasantly surprised with the results
of your efforts. So start mingling now!
