BookMarking Demon – Valuable Software or The Ultimate Spam Machine?
If you’re a regular reader of these marketing emails, you will
already know “social media or networking” sites are not my thing.
However, like anyone who is marketing on the web, I realize that
the “social” aspect has almost completely taken over the web.
To ignore the importance of these social bookmarking sites for
both marketing and SEO would be foolish. You simply must get in
the social game if you truly want to compete on today’s web -
regardless of what you’re promoting with your site.
There is no other way around it – you must use these social
bookmarking sites to your advantage.
Now, I am not exactly new to these bookmarking sites, way back in 2007
I received over 70,000 visitors in ONE DAY because someone had
bookmarked a webpage on my site in Digg and it went viral. Four years
later and that page still ranks at the top of Google.
To be quite frank with you, the main reason I am exploring
these sites and other methods of marketing on the web, is because
article marketing has lost most of its effectiveness (at least
for me) it still works but to a much lesser degree than it did
in the past.
I am looking for new ways to make all of my pages, content, articles,
videos… more effective and more highly ranked in the search engines.
That’s why I am turning to these bookmarking sites to boost my presence
on the web.
But bookmarking your content in all of these sites takes a lot
of time. It’s a big hassle which I wanted to avoid.

That’s where the Bookmarking Demon enters the picture, but keep in
mind, this rather pricey bookmarking software from Edwin Soft
has been around for quite some time and has gathered a lot of good
reviews. However, since this software has an extremely attractive
affiliate program and payment – you have to read these reviews with
a very skeptical eye, especially if the reviewer like me, is also selling
the product.
A few days ago, I bought this Bookmarking software to check it out
for myself. A process I do with a lot of software programs which
I check and test using my own standards and critical eye. I am
mainly looking for traffic and SEO benefits from this software.
I also bought this program so that I could quickly and easily create
accounts in 100′s of the major social bookmarking sites and then
when I have finished a new article, report, video… I could quickly
bookmark this new content with a few clicks of the mouse.
Bookmarking a new page in just a handful of these sites can take
a lot of time… bookmarking your content in 100′s of these would
take hours and hours of work. Any software that automates this
process is a “must have” if you’re serious about social marketing.
First Impressions of Bookmark Demon
The buying and installing process went very smoothly for me – which
I can’t say about all the software programs I have bought, but
Bookmarking Demon was easy to install on my computer. There are
helpful videos included with the program to assist you if you have
any problems, you also have a built-in “ticket support” system.
There are other videos which walk you through the whole process of
configuring your software with your different bookmarking accounts.
There is also a pdf manual… but I found the videos much more easier
to view and understand as each step could be shown as it is preformed.
Now, this is a very comprehensive piece of software so it does take time
to set up all your different accounts in each of your bookmark sites…
but you can import or export your accounts. I am talking about the
initial set-up which always takes more time because you’re not completely
familiar with the program.
The software has two modes: Beginner and Expert. Which I found to be very
useful because if you’re not familiar with these sites and how they work
- you can start in the Beginner mode and it won’t seem as overwhelming.
But make no mistake, this is a very solid and complete software program.
You can even set up a gmail account and this program will use it to
verify your accounts. Everything is done within the software program
on your desktop. You can quickly feed in your details in the
forms and this software will create an account for you in over 100
different social media sites. The program also gives the PageRank
of each of these sites and whether or not your bookmarks will be
DoFollow or NoFollow.
Other great features include the ability to integrate private proxy
servers, Pinging services, RSS camouflaging, randomization options,
and you can automate submissions to Pligg, Scuttle Script and
PHPDug-powered websites. Plus, you really have in-depth control of
your bookmark titles, descriptions and tags. You can even spin these
bookmarks so that they are not all the same.
Just run this software and you will be able to create accounts
in these sites within a matter of minutes. Please note, the only
thing that slowed the program down for me, were all the Captchas
which the software will present to you which you have to type in.
Now you can buy a service where these are done for you automatically
but it will cost you around $4 per 1000.
This software has had many updates which means it is quite active
and growing. The fact that it has been around for many years also
shows this software has legs and will probably be around in the
future. All upgrades and improvements are free.
There are a lot of features and options available when running
this software. Those options will be mainly determined by your
“usage” of this software.
In other words, like any effective software or program, there are
people who will abuse it. You can easily format this software via
proxies to create 1000′s upon 1000′s of spammy bookmarking accounts
and bookmarks… but I would strongly advise against it.
Google and the other search engines also have 1000′s upon 1000′s of
ways to spot this spam and penalize sites/individuals which are using
it. Besides, getting countless backlinks created instantly, even
with social bookmarking sites, will send up a lot of red flags.
However, if you go a more sensible route, Bookmarking Demon can
quickly help you add your bookmarks to your different bookmark
sites which you would normally do manually. This software saves
you a lot of time and hassle.
There is also a scheduler so you can plan your bookmarks in advance,
especially if you’re going to be away from your computer for any
length of time. This can also let you “slow-drip” your bookmarks
so that they look more natural. As I continue to explore and test
this software over the next couple of months, I will be adding updates
and my complete results/findings.
However, from what I have already seen and experienced, I would
highly recommend this software for anyone who wants an easier,
but responsible way to quickly bookmark their content in all
these different social bookmarking sites.
While this program could easily be the ultimate spam machine,
I would not recommend this software to anyone who would recklessly
abuse it for sending spam. Besides, these short term gains will only
defeat you in the end, so take a more conservative road to
success.
