New Dell Venue 7, 8 & 11 Tablets

New Dell Venue Tablets

New Tablets from Dell! Starting at $149.99ad

Dell is launching a whole new array of Venue 7, 8 and 11 Tablets sporting Android Jellybean 4.2 or Windows 8.1 operating systems. Lower end models will feature the Intel Atom (Dual Core) Z3740D processors and the higher end Venue 8 Pro and Venue 11 Pro will feature the Intel Atom (Quad Core) "Bay Trail" processors. All versions will have 2Gb of RAM and either 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of storage. The tablets will come in red or black for most models.

To avoid confusion, any potential customer must check the specs on the particular model they're considering.

The Dell Venue 7 is the lowest entry model and sports the HD wide-angle 7 inch 1280x800 display - that's 189 pixels per inch (PPI) which is better than the iPad Mini's 162 PPI rating. It also has a front Integrated VGA camera and a 3MP camera on the back. Intel Atom (Dual Core) Z3740D processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and the Android Jellybean 4.2 operating system. (Starting price of $149)

The Dell Venue 8 a Full HD 8 inch 1280x800 display with a 2MP resolution camera in the front and 3MP camera on the back. Intel Atom (Dual Core) Z3740D processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of storage and the Android Jellybean 4.2 operating system. (Starting price of $149)

The Dell Venue 8 Pro has the wide-angle HD 8 inch 1280x800 display with a 1.2MP camera in the front and 5MP camera on the back. Intel Atom (Quad Core) "Bay Trail" processor (2MB Cache, up to 1.8GHz) with up to 64GB of storage. It has 2GB of RAM, the Windows 8.1 operating system and the price starts at $299.

The Dell Venue 11 Pro is the highest end model with the large 10.8 inch Full HD 1920 x 1080 display with a 2MP camera in the front and a 8MP camera on the back. It has the Quad Core "Bay Trail" processor (up to Core i5 Intel) and up to 64 GB of storage. It also has the 2GB of RAM, the Windows 8.1 operating system and the price starts at $299.

All models come with the Dell 1 year Limited Hardware Warranty. There are other handy optional "smart" accessories such as a dock, keyboard and a Dell Active Stylus.

Great, that's the line-up of Dell's new Venue 7, 8 and 11 inch tablets, but will they find potential customers in this crowded, iPad dominated marketplace? Granted, these are the first array of more powerful tablets but can they really compete with Apple and the popularity of the iPad? Should Dell have a serious talk with HP and their little venture with the webOS operated TouchPad. That venture didn't turn out so good.

However, consumers of electronic products are not that loyal to any brand, including Apple. Just go ask Samsung about their smart phone battle against the popular iPhone. If it's a better product, they will come and buy. If it's faster, cheaper and looks sharper... then Dell or anyone has a chance of breaking into this market.

For a much more detailed and informative "tech perspective" on the performance levels offered by these new Intel Quad Core "Bay Trail" processors try this link on AnandTech.
