... Docking Bay
Docking Bay or Station - Some notebook computers come with a docking bay that's included or you can buy it as an option. This will usually make your notebook much more versatile - you can use this docking bay to access or use external drives for data storage, cd burning, battery charging, etc.
It also has the added benefit of making your notebook more portable, you have a lighter device if some of the drives or functions are done with a docking bay.
In fact, a docking port or station, can turn your portable laptop into more of a desktop computer since many more functions can be done when your device is hooked up or connected to the station. This also eliminates the need for connection cables as your laptop can be easily plugged or unplugged via the docking port or replicator.
Your notebook or laptop can even be in standby or sleep mode while in the docking bay. It can also charge your laptop's battery and be ready for the next time you want to use it.
