o Google Blog Search

As we enter the fall season, things are picking
up - it's a more serious time of year. A lot of
new programs are being introduced. One of the
most important is Google's Blog Search.

Blog Search lets you search the millions of
blogs for the information you want. You can
search from your Blogger.com or your blogspot
site - two buttons, one will search your current
blog and the second will search all blogs.

Now, your blogs are instantly searchable by
Google. I even tested this yesterday with a
post on this blog. It was a quick article on
the Blog Search program itself - immediately,
my post was indexed and searchable.

This has to be a great step forward for online
search. Especially where it concerns news and
current topics that everyone is talking
about now - not two weeks from now.

It also opens up a whole new marketing spectrum for
Internet Marketers - the genie is definitely out
of the box. Be interesting to see where marketers
take this new tool.

If you want to read more on the new Google Blog
Search - click here.

o Yahoo Sitemaps & Instant Search

Not to be outdone by Google, Yahoo has released
some new programs - mainly Yahoo Sitemaps. You
can submit a text file of all your urls to
Yahoo for indexing.

You can submit your list of urls here
http://submit.search.yahoo.com/free/request

Your text file should contain one URL per
line and be named urllist.txt or if you're
submitting a compressed file it should say
urllist.gz.

Yahoo has also introduced Instant Search - which
gives you your search results directly - no need
to press that button! Actually there is no button!

As soon as you start to type words into the search
engine - results are instantly displayed. This should
be the modus operandi for all search engines - one
less button to press!

o 50% OFF Your Own Branded DATEwise eCalendar

The DATEwise eCalendar is a simple software download
program that you can brand with your OWN NAME and
PRODUCTS - promote yourself, your website or your
company or products.

Very simple, yet very effective.

I like this program so much I placed it on the pages
of all my websites. It's a great viral tool that
will BRAND your name or site.

One time investment and you have a promotional tool
for your site or company FOREVER!

This eCalendar and Planner is perpetual - your clients
and customers will be using it for years to come.

Great list building tool, great branding tool for your
website. Promote, brand and sell your products thru
this simple promotional desktop calendar.

As with all customized products, it does cost more
than your average software program. You get a personalized
copy or branded version to match the 'look and feel' of
your site or company. You get your own sales message,
contact information and live links to your site or sales
page. These are 24/7 - 365 days of the years. Located
on your customer's DESKTOP!

For a limited time you can get 50% OFF the price of
this Customized Product. You can even use my 'art images'
if you want. Although it's best to put your company's or
website products directly on your own personalized
eCalendar. If your products are not appropriate for a
calendar or you don't want to use them - you are
welcomed to use my images.

You can order your OWN customized eCalendar here:

Google Blog Search

Google Blog Search - What You Should Know

Google is moving in so many directions, it can be somewhat
difficult to keep track of all the services and tools
offered by this premium search engine. For the seasoned
webmaster as well as the ordinary surfer, keeping a clear
picture of what Google is offering is sometimes a little
overwhelming.

Recently, there has been a deluge of new products from
Google. If you hit the 'more' button on the Google Home
page, you will see a smattering of Google services and
tools. Including Desktop 2, Print, Maps, Google Earth...
you can even search and browse mail-order catalogs.

Now comes Blog Search - where Internet users can now
search blogs for their information. This is a welcomed
service, especially for bloggers. Google's embracing of
blogs started with the purchase of Blogger.com and got
sidetracked with the 'costly' argument over which
syndication standard to use. Most favored RSS while
Google promoted the Atom standard for its blog feeds.

Blogs are online journals where ordinary people give
opinions, information and links on topics that matter
to them. These topics can be anything under the
sun: from politics to needlepoint to corporate blogs
to your local school's basketball team. Blogs give a
real insight into what ordinary surfers believe and feel
about a subject.

It's an instant snapshot of our world in words and pictures
- but mostly words.

Blogs are often associated with RSS because RSS is
the syndication standard that sends out the blog's content
in little snippets to all interested parties. Subscribers
to these blogs can read these headlines in News Readers or
Aggregators and then click on the links to get more
information. Keep in mind, the original acronym for
RSS is 'Rich Site Summary', but that meaning has been
somewhat replaced by the major benefit of RSS which
is 'Really Simple Syndication'.

Many browsers are now coming with an RSS reader already
built in, such as the popular Mozilla's Firefox browser.
Microsoft's new Longhorn version of Windows will have
RSS built into its operating system.

Recently Google has embraced RSS in its Desktop 2 program
and in the XML powered Google Sitemaps. Now comes Blog
Search, a way to search all the information in these blogs.
In the past, most bloggers have used the Technorati site
to search blogs as well as RSS search offered by MSN and
Yahoo.

Some things you should know about Google Blog Search:
1. How to access it? You can use the blog Search site
www.blogsearch.google.com or www.search.blogger.com
You may also use the Navigational Bar on any BlogSpot
blog, plus you will also be able to access it from your
Blogger Dashboard.

Major criticism - Google has not placed a link on its
home (front) page of Google search - as blogs and blogging
becomes even more popular maybe this error will be fixed.

2. Who's included? It should be noted that Google will index
all blogs using a site feed (RSS or Atom) and you can get
your Blog indexed just by using an automatic pinging service
offered by such sites as www.weblogs.com

Please Note - Your older posts may not be present in search
results, Google started indexing feeds around June, 2005.
Older posts may be included at a later date.

3. What search operators or query words are supported? You can
use these standard Google Search modifiers and Google will
restrict your results - link:, site:, intitle: plus new
ones for Blog Search - inblogtitle:, inposttitle:,
inpostauthor:, and blogurl:

4. Can I subscribe to search results? Yes, just use the News
Aggregator of your choice and subscribe to the feeds at
the bottom of the results page, then you can be automatically
updated as new posts come online.

5. Can I use Safesearch? Yes, Google lets you filter out any
unwanted sites.

More information on Blog Search click here:
http://www.google.com/help/about_blogsearch.html

Blog Search is a great extension to the Google Search Empire,
it will give surfers access to a greater range of material.
No doubt, this is not the end of what Google has to offer to
its loyal followers. Persistent speculation and rumors abound,
it just won't go away, rumors that Google is NOT only designing
its own browser (it owns the domain gbrowser.com) but its own
operating system.

But why stop there - if you're dreaming of the perfect
search - you must go further. Google must go further!

And since we're dreaming...

How about a Google delivered Instant Search embedded in a
Google RSS Powered Operating System on a Google designed
ultra-portable notebook computer with a wireless cell phone
modem, accessible anywhere in the world...

...wake me up when it arrives!

o Action Guide From SiteSell

Ken Evoy's SiteBuildIt, in my opinion, offers some of the
best free 'affiliate information or education' on the web.
Granted, he's trying to sell his Hosting Products and Ebooks
but even if you never buy anything, you still get some of the best
'webmaster' advice you will ever find anywhere.

And if you study in detail 'how' he goes about marketing his
SiteBuildIt products you will have gained more knowledge
than you're get from a 100 Gurus combined!

Just study his methods! And all will be revealed!

There are no secrets on the web, if you look in the right
places. Just search them out. Study the methods other
marketers use and you will be well ahead of the game.

Ken Evoy's SiteBuildIt is a good starting place. And
here's as good a place as any:

o Top Ten Blogs

At last count there were over 60 million or more blogs
on the Web. According to technorati.com these are
the top ten blogs:

1 Boing Boing: A Directory of Wonderful Things
2 Daily Kos: State of the Nation
3 Gizmodo, The Gadget blog
4 Drew Curtis' FARK.com
5 Engadget www.engadget.com
6 Instapundit.com
7 PostSecret
8 Talking Points Memo: by Joshua Micah Marshall

10 Davenetics* Politics Media Musings

o Niche Blogs and Why You Should Be Using Them

You probably know by now, one of the easiest ways
to earn extra income on the Web is to start a
niche blog on a subject that interest you.

Collect information, compile links, give original
content on your favorite subject or subjects. Actually,
you can start a blog on anything, but picking
one with high paying popular keywords will be more
lucrative in the long run.

Just use a site like overture.com to find out what
advertisers are willing to pay for certain keywords
and create a blog around these keywords. Join
Google Adsense and place your code on all these
pages.

I like using blogger.com (which is owned by Google)
because its Adsense friendly and is very simple to
keep track of multiple blogs at one control panel.

Writing informative information is the hard part. But
if you pick subjects that are dear to your heart... you
will be turning out posts very quickly and frequently.

Those Monthly Adsense Checks are also a great incentive
to get those creative juices flowing.

Brandon Hong, the 'Marketing Rampage with Blogs and RSS'
guy has put out a free e-course entitled:

"Your Profit Pulling Niche Blogs With Wordpress Videos"

It's associated with his wordpress videos - you can
sign up to the free course here, I am only half way
thru the course - but it's worth it - especially to
someone new to 'niche blogging' or want to find out
more about it.

You can find it here:

o DATEwise eCalendar As A Promotional Tool

If you're a regular reader of this blog you will
know - for the last couple of months - I have been
testing the DATEwise eCalendar to see if it's a
viable promotion tool for your website. Already
this month - I have had over 1000 hits to the
download page on my site.

Mainly from the search engines and word of mouth
recommendations. It's a great little system,
nothing fancy - just a eCalendar and daily planner
that people can place on their desktops and use.

I am so impressed with the program I wrote a 'Looooooong'
salesletter for it. Be warned, this is a bit
long but I wanted to get all the points in. Besides,
marketing research show long salesletters often
converts better than their shorter cousins.

Hope you can skim thru it and see why this promotional
eCalendar is a great little marketing tool to have.
Check it out here:

o Where Hurricanes Go To Die

That phrase "Where Hurricanes Go To Die" was
spoken by a local weather forecaster in my
small part of the world. By the time any hurricanes
from the south reaches us up here in the North
Atlantic, the cold waters and terrain have
filtered out all the deadly fury.

All week long, that phrase kept popping into my head
like a refrain for a favorite song you just can't
get rid of.

As the remains of Katrina passed overhead,
bringing muggy temperatures and just some
heavy rain - it was still ringing in my ears.

Just can't get it out of my head.

I must confess - I am a CNN junkie. Like a lot of
the subscribers to this ezine, I couldn't help but
watch helplessly as the disaster was unfolding.
Couldn't help but feel compassion for the terrible
images coming from New Orleans. Heart-breaking images.

Like everyone, I was finally relieved when the American
Government finally got it's act together and starting
rescuing people and saving lives.

Although it's way too easy for us to judge and second
guess, and besides, someone watching the events unfolding
from newscasts like CNN don't get the full story of how
devastating Hurricane Katrina was.

But still, in the first 3 or 4 days after... someone
definitely dropped the ball.

"Results are Unacceptable".

I Hope, my American cousins to the south, have long
memories.

As the dust settles, and all possible help is given
to the people who need it... please remember.

As all the problems are fixed and re-built... please
remember.

As all the people are re-located once again, into the
proud city of New Orleans... please remember.

DON'T FORGET

Don't forget your government's initial response
to Katrina. Instead, as one of the best democracies
in the world, put your democratic ideas to work...
please remember Katrina the next time you're in
a voting booth and also make it a place where
hurricanes go to die!

Sorry, but I just had to get that out of my head!
