Article Announcer

Article Marketing is a very effective way of
building links, targeted traffic and creditibility.

How do I know?

I did my ran my own tests to see just how effective it was!
I started Article Marketing around Jan. of this year to
see how effective it would be to my online marketing.
I have written over 30 articles since then, the writing
is 'marginal' but I did get picked up by some high
quality sites: addme, sitepronews, thetechzone,
bonafidereviews, buzzle, icemelon, devshed,...

I choose three main subjects that I believed would be
'HOT' in 2005. These are also major subjects of my
site. Drum roll please.

The Three are: RSS, Notebook Computers and Spyware

Most of my articles were on these subjects with RSS
taking up most of these articles. Just google my
name and you will find these articles spread around
the net and there are still going.

In order to get my articles 'out there', I used
Article Directories - these are online article
directory sites where you can place your articles
for free. Other webmasters can search these directories
and if they like your articles - they place your
articles on their site, along with your url links
in your resource box at the end of each article.

It proved to be a great way of building links, I doubled
my totall number of links I have on the web for my main
site - www.bizwaremagic.com

The best performing Article Directories for me
were/are:

Goarticles - High quality, if your articles get placed
on sitepronews (& newsletter) you will see a big jump in
traffic (and sales!) - I also had about 150 subscribers in
one day. It also gave me a measuring unit or scale, that
I could use in Alexa - never had that before!

Ezinearticles - This brought in a lot of traffic when
I first started but they have gone from around 2000 authors
to over 7000 authors so their traffic is spread too thin
now!

Ideamarketers - Another high quality directory. Keyword feature
on this one is good for feeding the search engines.

Articlealley - They really help to syndicate your articles.

Buzzle.com - Brings in a lot of targeted traffic.

Work at Home Jobs Iowa - This one was a surprise. But I like it!

Article writing for me proved very effective. But did take a
lot of time submitting to all these directory sites and ezines.

Now Jason Potash has come out with a handy piece of software
that makes getting your articles 'out there' - real easy.
It's called Article Announcer. And it automatically places
your articles into directories and submit them to ezine
publishers.

If you write a lot of articles for the web - Article Announcer
would be very beneficial to you. Save a lot of time.

o Next Windows Will Have RSS

On Friday, June 24, 2005 - Microsoft put all
the rumors to rest and came out with a statement
that the next version of Windows (codename Longhorn)
will indeed have RSS.

Great News! For everyone concerned or consumed by RSS!

MS might just be getting it right - RSS will be featured
not only in the their browsers (2006) but also in their servers
(2007). Hopefully it will place RSS firmly in the background,
invisible, fully integrated into their operating systems.
Like DOS or any other component - people will use it without
even being aware of it.

And there will be much more powerful applications for RSS
- mainly dealing with lists - you can read more in my Article here:
Microsoft's RSS Announcement Article

I have been following the RSS wildcard for some time,
anyone who has read my articles or web copy - know
I sometimes go a little 'overboard' in my praise and
expectations for RSS. But if I am reading this one
right (I seldom get things right) RSS will have a
more far reaching role to play in computers and
the Internet than most people realize.

It will basically change the way information is transmitted
on the Web. From a passive role to a more pro-active role.
Don't come to us - we will deliver!

Perhaps, even more important, Microsoft's announcement
firmly puts RSS in the spotlight - making it a force to
be reckoned with.

And not that it really needed it, but it also makes RSS seem
more legit. It can't be ignored anymore.

o Microsoft's RSS Longhorn Announcement
- What It Really Means To You

Will Microsoft's June 24th announcement that it will be
incorporating RSS into its next Windows version finally
give RSS the respect it deserves. What does it really mean
for RSS? More importantly, what does it mean to You?

Microsoft's RSS Longhorn Announcement

and RSS - Making RSS Invisible!

At the beginning of this year I wrote a simple article entitled
'10 Reasons To Put RSS On Your Site'. In that article,
which can be found floating around the web, I stated
that 2005 would be the 'breakout' year for RSS. Really
put RSS into the spotlight once and for all.

Microsoft's announcement of its plans to place features
into its Longhorn operating system, in the next Windows version
- due out in 2006 and in servers in 2007 is a great leap forward
for RSS. Read more about this in this eWeek Article by Peter Galli.

This takes RSS out of just RSS readers and browsers - giving it
much more powerful applications. Most interesting is a new set of
applications - Simple List Extensions - allowing web sites to
publish feeds containing lists such as a wish list or top
10 list. Might make Letterman happy!!

Subscribing to a web site or feed just got a lot easier.

What's really important about Microsoft's plans (I believe)
- is the fact that this now makes RSS legit. Lets face it,
outside of blogging and few alert online marketers, RSS is
still not understood by the majority of people.

Lets hope it stays that way!

People don't have to understand 'html' to enjoy the Internet.
They don't really have to know about servers, DOS, or even
ISPs to get full benefit from the web. Likewise, RSS doesn't
have to known or even understood by the majority of the people
who will be using it.

This is a great step to making RSS a seamless, invisible
part of computing and the Internet.

Lets hope they get it right!

BWMagic's RSS Ezine: How to Get Google Traffic

o All Things Google

o Content is Still King

o Strategic RSS Positioning...How to
Hotwire Your Site To Google

o Happy Father's Day!

******************

o All Things Google

Google came acalling this week! My main site,
www.bizwaremagic.com suddenly starting getting
a lot of traffic - not massive traffic mind you
but an extra 200 to 300 visitors aday.

I have learned the hard way NEVER to get excited
about traffic from Google. One day your site is
in the top 10 - next day - no where to be seen!

Especially now, as they have made recent changes
to their algorithm with the Bourbon update, and the
SERPs are all over the place but for some reason
my site hit the radar. (Keep reading, what I did
could help you with your own site's rankings!)

I have always gotten traffic from Google but
never in very large numbers.

And it's very good traffic - by that I mean - it's
95% targeted. Visitors should get what they are
searching for. I believe Google is relying more
semantics/actual text of your links and content.
It seems to hit the target more now than in the
past - at least for my websites.

Don't get me wrong, with Google adsense on all
my pages, I will take Google Trash any day!!!
But it much better to get the Google Cream
- especially when you're marketing affiliate
programs.

I would like to believe the increase in Google
traffic comes from my own efforts. Since the
beginning of year I have made an all out
effort to increase my rankings.

Of course, everyone knows the two main factors
for getting Google Traffic are: Anchor Text Links
and High PR or Page Rank.

Anchor text links are the actually text or keywords
in the live links on other sites around the net linking
to your site or page.
<*a href="http://www.bizwaremagic.com/notebook-online-buyers- guide.htm">Notebook Buyer's Guide <*/a> 'Notebook Buyer's Guide' is the anchor text.

Google ranks the quality and importance of a page by
giving it PR or Page Rank. A PR8 is much better than
a PR3. Hence, getting your link or links on a lot
of high PR pages will increase your Google rankings for the
keywords in your anchor text.

Many SEOs now believe Google is placing less importance
on their PR system (only theory) but there seems to be
a lot of abuse of this system. People buying links and
skewing the results or SERPs.

I have been targeting 'one way links' with
my marketing and getting them by writing articles.

The article below on Google is #25 since Jan.
Don't know why I didn't start this tactic
sooner but writing never comes easy to me - I
am very poor with the grammar part and I can
never seem to get the hang of it - good writing
has nice flow to it. You either have it or you
don't. Can't seem to quite get it!

But hopefully the information I am trying
to pass on - makes up for the poor writing.
Of course, my poor writing style hasn't
stopped me from getting my articles on some
major sites such as 'addme.com, sitepronews.com,
webpromotion.com, buzzle.com' and other major
players - sites with high PR or links of million
or more'.

But Google is very frustrating from a webmaster's
point of view - if I check my main site
http://www.bizwaremagic.com into Google over
1300 sites with a link to my site comes up -
but when you check with Google for backlinks
only 29 measly links shows up.

All these links must be helping with Google.
Many believe they count many links that are
not listed. Again only theory.

My main site once had a PR4 ranking - it's now at PR3
and has not changed, despite a large increase in
links from some high quality sites. It's
very frustrating to say the least.
My blog went to a PR3 very quickly but
it now too is stalled.

Since Google traffic can make or break your
site - I have been working very hard to do
all the right things.

Since the start of the year, I have also been
following Brad Callen's excellent advice in his
free mini course. He gives a lot of pointers you can
follow to give you that extra edge your need
to get your keywords or phrases in the top ten.

Get a free trial of his seo elite and see what I mean.
Just try the seven days to massive traffic eCourse.

The only other thing I have been doing, that
I hadn't been doing before - concerns RSS. I have
gone heavily into blogging and RSS promotion
with my sites. I have a gut feeling this may be
a dominant factor in the increase in rankings.
Search engines can't ignore RSS. It offers up
'raw-fresh-content' that's the lifeblood of any
search engine.

I muse on this RSS wildcard in the article link
listed below.

Then again, it's wise never to draw conclusions quickly
or get too over excited - by the time you're reading
this - my Google glee could be turned to Google glum again.

And then its back to the drawing board.

Google is one beast I would dearly love to tame
but the Jury is still out and not a pair of PJs in sight!!!

Wait a minute, Google Glee and Google Glum -- Gee that sounds
like a good name for another article...like I said
writing does not come easy to me!

o Content is Still King

On a more serious note - regardless of how you tackle
the search engines, content is still king. Give the
search engines fresh unique content and they will
come acalling.

Getting fresh content is not as easy as it seems,
it you're not a fast or good writer - you will
have to look elsewhere to solve your problem.
One solution I have passed along lately, is
Len Thurmond's Article Automator.htm. This is software
that will find keyword related articles and place them on your site.

I am always wary of recommending ebooks
to my subscribers and visitors. They don't
get read or my interpretation of the book is all wrong,
besides, it's hard to judge what information
other people will find helpful. Unless, it has some
straight forward practical advice like
Joel Comm's Google Adsense Secrets.

Software on the other hand - I find very
easy to recommend - you can't go wrong with
buying software. It's a practical tool
you will use every day in your marketing.
Some how they are always worth the extra
money.

Lately, I have come across another piece of
software from Jeff Alderson. If you remember
he's the guy behind some controversal products:
Traffic Equalizer and RSS Equalizer.

Jeff Alderson's Traffic Equalizer caused a lot
of controversy when it was first released several
years ago - mainly concerning the quality of the
content created to get all this traffic following
thru these pages of endless links.

These theme-centered keyword pages do bring in a
lot of traffic and more than a few people have made
significant recurring income from this traffic.

Many more webmasters have used these TE pages to
funnel traffic to their main website or websites.
Also creating significant income.

Alderson also produced RSS Equalizer which draws
fresh content from RSS feeds and places this content
onto HTML webpages that the search engines just love.
Fresh content is still King of the Hill!

Many ordinary webmasters use these two products
in conjunction - creating a powerful system of
creating tens or even hundreds of themed websites
that bring in traffic and revenue. But go into this
area with your eyes firmly open - some search engines
ban these types of sites - they consider them a type
of keyword spamming. So be careful, if you use this
type of software.

Like anything, it's in how you apply these tools,
rehashing old SE links and calling it content is one
thing... but these tools can also be used in a more
constructive way - to create fresh informative content
neatly packaged into a well designed site that no
search engine can find fault with.

Now Alderson has come out with Link Equalizer
- this linking software will help you get one-links to your site.
Increase your link popularity rankings very quickly.

Anyone who writes articles to get one way links
knows how much time it takes. Likewise, keeping
track and getting reciprocal links is a major
pain for anyone operating a website or in most
cases websites. It takes a hellva lot of time
just do the emailing alone - not to mention
checking the links, placing the links, etc.

Links determine to a very large degree whether
you get any traffic from the search engines and
everyone knows traffic equals income. The more
traffic you have, the more income you will make.

Anyone offering a simple piece of software that
gives you legit one-way links has to be considered.
Welcomed even.

So if you want to build a large body of one-way
incoming links to your site you should check out
Link Equalizer.
It will help you get targeted one-way links to
your website.

o The Passing of Corey Rudl

o Google Does RSS

******************

---------------------------
o The Passing of Corey Rudl
---------------------------

Hearing the sad news that Internet Marketer
Corey Rudl had died in a tragic racing accident last
Thursday, June 2nd kinda hit me sick for a moment.

Never thought I would have such a reaction to someone
I have never personally met but the impact packed more
of an emotional punch than I expected. It felt real
weird somehow.

I only knew him from the Internet and this was more
or less 'indirect contact' thru his newsletters and
his affiliate program.

I have being promoting Corey's program 'marketingtips.com'
and products for some time on my main site. He was one
of the 'core professional marketers' that I highlighted
throughout my site.

Guess, the main reason his passing was felt so strongly,
I made some of my first affiliate sales thru his program.
It was the first time I realized this is how it's done,
I can do this --- and it encouraged me to get more
involved with Internet Marketing.

Not that I am a roaring success at it but it showed me
that I could pick up a few pennies if I worked hard enough
and followed his methods.

Like countless others, I learned a great deal from studying
him and his marketing methods. He was one of 'the' best
Internet Marketing masters and can't be replaced. He will
be greatly missed.

For the families and those who knew him it must be a
great loss but perhaps it's an even greater loss for
Internet Marketing...

Sad, very sad.

And now for a complete change of topic - I wrote
this article last week before this tragic event
happened. Don't think I would have been in the
same up-beat mood...

---------------------
o Google Does RSS
---------------------

Has Google finally embraced RSS with their new XML
powered Sitemaps program? Well, sort of, but it seems
more like a hug than a strong impassioned embrace!

It does use XML technology which allows for the
crawling and updating of your site's web pages.
You can even include your entire web site (all urls)
with this indexing program. For anyone targeting the search
engines, especially Google, this program (still in beta)
is a MUST HAVE.

If you require timely updating of your most popular pages
Google's new Sitemaps may prove indispensable. It's a little
premature to assess the importance or impact of Google's
new program but anyone wanting to give their site a
competitive edge should be gearing up.

How it works:

There are several ways to set-up a XML Sitemap, perhaps
the easiest way is to use the open-source Generator which
you can download from Google. This is a Python file that
you can upload to your webserver and this generator
will create a sitemap from your 'URL lists, webserver
directories, or your access logs'.

It would probably be wise to check with your hosting provider
to see if they can accommodate this Generator on your webserver.
It you have a small site there should be no problem but if your
site runs into the 1,000's of URLs or pages - check to see how much
bandwidth such a system will take up. It's better to be safe
than sorry!

Once done, you have to then submit your newly generated XML sitemap
to Google - the search engine will use this XML sitemap to
update and index your site whenever you make changes on your site.
You will need to have a Google account.

You may also submit text files containing URLs from your web site
to be included in Google's Sitemap program but these text files
will have or will be given low priority for the time being.

To get started on your own Google's Sitemaps you can click here:

Google's Sitemaps

What's great about it:

Besides seeing Google finally grab the RSS wildcard, it
gives you better control of how and when the search
engines update your web site pages. Perhaps, the most
important aspect for Internet Marketers, you can now assign
the importance that's given to any of your particular
pages. As most marketers know, certain pages on your
web site are more important than others; these pages
earn money, build your contact list, or direct your
site's visitors in the right direction. In other words,
you can now place more emphasis on your web site's
'bread and butter' pages. A BIG Plus!

With Google's Sitemap program you can decide the
importance placed on these pages by using the priority
XML tag. This rating system is relative - it only
relates to the pages on your own site.

Likewise, you can also indicate how frequently your
pages changes by using the changefreq XML tag. More or
less instructing Google when your page will be updated
or changed. This is a win-win situation for everyone
- Google gets the freshest content for its users and
you gain more control of the frequency of the updates
done with your site or web pages. This may have a direct
influence on the profitability of your web site.

For those who are actively marketing thru the search
engines and keywords - Santa may have come a little
early this year. Of course, the jury will be out for
awhile but Google's Sitemaps will probably have a
positive impact on your bottom line.

What it means for Google:

For those of us who have been following and watching
the RSS wildcard for the past couple of years - it takes
away some of the frustration and a little of the puzzlement
from Google seemingly total disregard of RSS.

RSS is not a fad, it is not a trend and it's not going away.
Instead, its importance is growing. It is fast becoming 'the'
way data is moved on the web. One could even speculate that
in the very near future all web pages will have an RSS
component -- perhaps a hybrid of 'XML/HMTL' or an embedded
XML code that will work with all browsers, search engines
and servers.

For Google to ignore the growing importance of RSS, blogging,
podcasting, broadcatching, the RSS featured Firefox browser,
MyYahoo, not to mention all those orange XML logos popping
up on most of the major sites on the web - is beyond comprehension.
Why Google does not have an RSS search on its main search engine
page still seems baffling. Bringing out a homepage and not
including an RSS feature is just foolhardy (They may introduce
this feature later).

For those firmly in the RSS corner, Google's continued
disregard for RSS became more than a little frustrating
to observe. It was downright rude! Perhaps Google was waiting
to incorporate RSS in a program like this new XML sitemaps?
Can this mean that Google has finally accepted the importance
of RSS and they're starting to make amends? More importantly,
could there still be a few more RSS goodies in the Google Jar
left to be announced?

One can only speculate but when it comes to RSS and Google,
lets just hope this is the start of a beautiful friendship.
