This week I thought I would comment on some of my
own observations about using Blogs, RSS feeds to
target certain keywords or phrases in the different
search engines. These are not scientific or controlled
studies - just some things I have noticed by using RSS/Blogs
to get my keywords listed and indexed in the different
search engines - general pointers that may help your
own marketing.

First, I would just like to say that targeting the
right keywords or phrases is the 'key' to making any kind
of profit from your site. One simple way to do this is
to just type your 'keyword' into the different search
engines - now take note of the number of paid adverts listed
for your keyword.

If there are no paid adverts - chances are high that your
keyword is not a paying keyword. Which means it has little or
no traffic - it can also mean that the keyword doesn't convert
into a sale.

You can use some shortcuts by checking with wordtracker or
overture.com - I use this one here.
It gives me the numbers of searches made last month for that
keyword, along with variations of that keyword or phrase.
It also gives me a list of whose bidding on the keyword and
how much they're willing to pay for traffic to that keyword.

PayPerClick marketing is whole different area that I won't
go into here but it's something similar except in PPC
you obviously have to pay for your traffic.

Getting a high ranking (at least on the first page) for a
paying 'keyword' in one of the top search engines
Google, Msn, or Yahoo can set up a nice revenue stream
on your site.

That's why everyone is trying to get a top #1 listing
for a high traffic, high paying keyword
in Google or Yahoo. It can mean a lot to your
bottom line.

With that in mind, I thought I would comment on some
of my observations over the last couple of years -
and especially now that I have started to use
RSS/Blogs to target my keywords. You can read more
about this system Here: Google Cash File.

Anyway, just what exactly is the connection between RSS,
Blogger.com and Google. How does Google rate
keywords that appear on Blogger and in Blogger's
RSS atom feeds. Is there a 'shortcut' clause in their
algorithm or are they just using common sense - fresh
content is their business and the freshest, most recent
content can usually be found in blogs and RSS feeds.

It's the inherent nature of those two systems - we
check blogs and feeds to get the latest news, updates
or information that we need.

Of course, everyone knows Google owns Blogger.com
but does a site or more specifically a keyword or
a keyword phrase get preferential treatment if it appears
in Blogger.com or in an atom feed from Blogger.com?

Not really, but it will get the 'googlebot' hopping
to your site real fast for that particular 'keyword'.
And if your site has a PR of 5 or 6 or higher - changes
are you will get a top listing for that keyword depending
on the competition.

Off page factors are important to Google, the number
of 'anchor text' links with your particular keyword
is extremely important. The more you have, the higher
the ranking. It's still the number and quality of those
anchor links that will put you at #1 and keep you there.

So the main reason for considering such a connection
is how fast a keyword is indexed in Google, once it
has appeared on Blogger.com or in any blog/rss feed.

I have been publishing this blog thru Blogger.com and
hosting it on my site. I have noticed it's a very quick
way to get my keyword phrases indexed in Google.

For example, last week I posted an item about Brad
Callen's SEO Elite software program - within days
I was listed in Google for the keyword 'Brad Callen'
- granted it's only at #13 and on the second page
but I only have a PR3 site.

Someone, with a PR5 or PR6 site - would be able to
get a top 10 listing for words are in the mid-level
competition within days - JUST BY PLACING A POST IN
BLOGGER.COM

Kick-start your 'keyswords' by using a blog or RSS feed.

It's one way of getting your 'keyword' indexed really
fast -- when you're selling a time sensitive item or
product - it's really the early bird that gets most
of the worms. Especially, when you have such a powerful
search engine such as Google pointing a prospective
customer your way.

Brad Callen, as mentioned about and in last week's post,
has great free mini-course you can get. You can also get
a trial version of his Seo Elite. Getting your site ranked
highly in the search engines will be a major factor in
your site's ability to make you money.

Links are extremely important, the more related links
you have coming into your site the better your rankings.
The more traffic you get, the more sales you will make.

Brad Callen's Seo Elite software automates the whole
linking procedure and saves you a lot of time. It also
explains the reasoning behind all the different search
engines and how they work.

========================
o The Easiest Way
========================

I have been online for 5 or 6 years now, most of
those years have been spent learning about Internet
marketing, web design, new technologies and new
products. Basically, keeping myself amused and entertained -
if you're not having fun - go do something else.

That has always been my philosophy. I mean, if you're
on here - trying to make a few bucks and it seems like real
hard work - what's the point? Get a 9 to 5 job in the
real world and you won't have to worry about the next bill
payment.

On the other hand, if you're enjoying yourself with your online
marketing and your web sites. More power to you!

No matter where you're coming from, we can only write or tell
others about stuff that works for us. First-hand accounts
of how to make a few pennies online has always interested me.
In that same vain, I thought I would tell you about the
simplest, easiest way - I have found to make a few pennies
on here.

This is not revolutionary, no magic formula, no great 'to-kill-for
secret' way of making it big. Just something simple anyone can
do and are doing. There's probably millions doing the same on
the net at this moment.

One of the basic ways to make a few pennies online is to use
Google Adsense or another type of link ads on your website(s).
No great revelation there - just something simple anyone
can do.

Of course, the key to making any money with your sites is
traffic. If you can put a hundred websites and if they have
little or no traffic - you won't make a cent.

But how do you get traffic? There are many ways, you can
optimize your sites with all the SEO advice you can
get, build links with other websites, use the online forums
to draw in visitors, build an opt-in list, etc.

However, I am talking about the easiest way to build traffic --
and the answer is rather simple: write articles on the topic
of your website.

Place a resource box at the end of your article with a
link back to your site anchored with your site's targeted
keywords. (see article in the previous post below to see how this
is done!)

Then submit these articles to 'articles directories' like
ezinearticles.com or ideamarketers.com and you will not
only build traffic but also build links to your site.

The great thing about this system, is that your articles take on
a life of their own. They get picked up and placed in ezines, on sites,
etc. Articles you wrote months ago, keep popping up.

Just to give you a brief example, last week one of my articles was
picked up by 'addme.com' Issue #349 and placed in their
newsletter and on their site. You get a lot of traffic from a site like
that and a link on a PR7 or PR8 can only help your rankings!

Also last week another one of my articles that I wrote months ago,
ended up on 'thetechzone' site. Bringing in more targeted traffic and
visitors.

Along the way some these visitors subscribed to my ezine, some bought
a product or two, some clicked on the ads on my sites and I made
a few pennies.

I mention all this not to boast or brag, but because it's the simplest
way I have found to earn a few dollars from my websites. And even
if your sites are not the best designed or have the best web copy -
it really doesn't matter - people are than more likely to click
on an ad if they're bored with your sites!!!

Not that I am suggesting that you make crappy sites, we should
always make the best sites possible - and if it's chocked full
of information and the design will play a minor role anyway.

So in a nutshell, here's how to make a few pennies from your sites:

- design a site full of information
- write and submit articles on your topic with resource boxes attached
- place Google Adsense on your site

You will make a few pennies and those pennies will add up quickly!

Of course, there are always people and resources, that will make
the above scenario explode once you have the basic system in place
- so if you have a few pennies of your own to spend or want to
reinvest those pennies - you might want to check out Joel Comm's Google Adsense Secrets

It's a good resource shortcut that will help you make even more
pennies! Like I said at the beginning, always take advice from
marketers with a proven track record - and this one delivers.

========================
o Brad Callen
========================

Here's an SEO expert that you should know! In line
with the above topic - another way to get tons of
traffic to your sites is thru the search engines.
But competition, as everyone knows, is stiff for
most good high volume traffic keywords.

Keywords that bring in lots of targeted traffic to
your sites. Optimizing your pages for the search engines
and building your sites' rankings so they fall onto
the first page in the search engines listings - can
pay off big time.

Even with just using Google Adsense, you can make some
serious cash - if you get thousands or tens of thousands
of visitors aday to your sites.

One of the best resources I have come across lately is
Brad Callen. He has designed SEO software that can
put your sites onto the first pages of the search
engines. You can listen to him here on Seoradio .

I know or have most of the stuff he talks about already
on my sites - but I have learned a few more tricks from
just reading his free newletter. The great thing about
about the product he's selling - you can actually check
out the results for yourself!

Just read the testimonials and use the search engines to
actually see if these websites are in the Top Rankings!
Proof enough that this works and it also keeps the
'bovine deposits' to a minimum if you know what I mean!

If you're just starting out with your websites, try his
a free trial version of his software - it will get you
started on the right track and save you from a lot of
hassle later on when you realize how important it is to
have your pages 'fine-tuned' for all the search engines.

It looks like a great system and will probably

Some articles I write just for fun. This is
one of them. You can check it out in the
post below. Still say we are moving to a
billion channel web - which has more to
do with broadcasting than the Internet
that we presently have.

However, like I mentioned before, always be
on the lookout for 'bovine deposits' as you
read anything on the web!

You have been warned!

Hope you have a great week!

The Billion Channel Internet Starts Here!

The Billion Channel Internet Starts Here!
Article by Titus Hoskins

A lighthearted, yet slightly serious, look at the
future of the Internet...just where is this baby
headed? Put on your thinking caps, open your eyes
just a little bit wider, you won't need a crystal ball,
just follow the cursor...more than likely, it will
lead you to a billion channel Internet!

Pass the remote!

The Billion Channel Internet Starts Here

Is the Internet evolving into a Billion Channel
Universe where each website's content is broadcasted
directly to thousands or even millions of users.
Instead of material just sitting on a web server waiting
for visitors - are we at the stage where a site's content
is broadcasted wirelessly to all interested parties.

More importantly, is the function, how we use or will use
the Internet - really changing? Are we going from a
re-active system to a pro-active one?

A billion channels? Sound too farfetched, total nonsense,
hogwash! Get the hook! Where is that Gong?

Don't be too quick to dismiss this idea, the genesis or seeds
for a Billion Channel Internet may already be amongst us!

Years from now, researchers will scan and search for
the genesis of the Billion Channel Internet - when did it
all start? When did the Internet change from being a file
sharing warehouse into a full blown broadcasting system;
delivering or broadcasting content directly into the
biosphere - to be picked up by anyone, anywhere.

A totally wireless global broadcast system with a Billion
Channels or more!

But what were those seeds? What were the indicators? What were
the precursors to this billion channel universe? Will the
researchers be focusing on our present time period and the
events that's happening at this very moment. Are
the seeds already sprinkled amongst us? What will they
consider:

Will it be RSS?

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication
and it basically syndicates your site's content to all
interested parties. It's original acronym stood for
Rich Site Summary and it is a way of broadcasting
your site's news, content and information. Will they
look closely at Podcasting, which is using RSS feeds
to syndicate audio files in MP3 format. Or will they
concentrate on Broadcatching - the video version
of this system.

Regardless, Blogging and RSS feeds really did or does change
how content is moved around on the Internet. There is a
slight change in how we get our content - don't come to us,
we will deliver it to you. This is more in line with broadcasting
than your garden variety Internet download or surfing.

Will it be Verizon Wireless 3G EV-DO network?

Verizon Wireless 3G EV-DO (evolution-data optimized ) which
began commercial operations in Oct. of 2003, is now expanding to
over 125 million U.S. consumers by the end of 2005.

With this kind of system and the ones coming very soon,
we are very close to a totally wireless global web.
VCAST (which came online on Feb. 1st) even provides video
broadcasts thru this wireless system. In order to have a
broadcasting system - you must have the broadcasting
mechanism in place. Is this the first peg in a global
broadcasting network that will produce the billion channel
universe?

Will it be Google Video?

Google has recently introduced Google Video and members
can now upload their videos to be broadcasted (technically still
called downloading but that will change as the Internet Changes!)
to the masses. Is this a forerunner of things to come...

Of course, in the Billion Channel Internet - Google will
be our TV Guide - who else?

Will it be the notebook computer?

What?

It's not as strange as you may think - don't underestimate
the revolutionary power of this little device. The notebook
or laptop computer is doing for the Internet what the cell phone
did for the phone industry. Making it wireless, portable, and
accessible anywhere.

No small feat in itself, but perhaps it's the fundamental change
in our psyche that the little notebook has contributed which
may be more important. The Internet was always viewed as a wired
connection - something physically connected together with lines
and cables - a file sharing warehouse with wires.

The portable, wireless notebook computer freed us not only
from those wires but also from the notion that the Internet
is tied to this grounded connection. In essence, liberating it.

Maybe all this discussion is relatively pointless, it might
not be that much of a stretch to suggest - isn't the Billion
Channel Internet already here and all these seeds are already
working together to present it to us!

If you have a website and syndicate your site's content by
an RSS feed and it's picked up by thousands of users using
Verizon Wireless Vcast network on their notebook computers - don't
you basically have a rudimentary broadcasting system already
in place?

So it might only be a matter of time before technology gives us
a totally wireless world and download speeds that can handle
video/audio feeds instantly - we will be able to tune in or
turn on this billion channel Internet anytime, anywhere.

Just imagine the size of those couch potatoes. Better yet,
let's just hope this system comes with a remote!

Pass the chips!

One of the more inventive ways I have seen
RSS used is in the Ken Evoy's Affiliate
Program - SiteBuildIt.

It has been a huge hit with old and new
affiliates alike. And it's quite simple,
any affiliate owner can use RSS feeds to
bring in new affiliates and make sales.

SiteBuildIt's RSS feed provides 'penetrating
insight into how the Web's #1 small business
e-commerce company, SiteSell.com, runs its own
family of sites. Updates, lessons, mistakes...
it's all there. Quick, easy, interesting lessons.
Simple to promote...'

Here's how it works as an affiliate program -

1) Affiliates Send people to their RR URL for SiteSell's home page...

2) Affiliates tell them to click on the RSS orange button
and subscribe to SiteSell's RSS Feed.

That sets YOUR cookie onto each visitor. And then...

The RSS feed is basically doing the job or taking the place
of the 'follow-up' email series most marketers use to
finalize a sale. Everyone knows it usually takes 6 or 7
follow-ups to make a sale. The beauty of RSS - there are
no email filters or spam police to shut you down.

If you don't know about Ken Evoy's SiteBuildIt or
his affiliate program just click this link:

SiteBuildIt's RSS Feed

and add SiteSell's RSS feed to your list of
feeds!

Ken Evoy runs one of the best affiliate programs,
you can join. Great products, great stats and
most important of all - great pre-sell tools (brandable
ebooks, reports, and yes, rss feeds!).

And if you're into affiliate marketing - just
studying his techniques and methods is the only way to
go - even if you don't buy a single product -
the education alone is worth your bother!

Actually, it's priceless!

o Finding Time to Blog
========================

I recently had a discussion on one
of the marketing forums about how hard it is to
find for Blogs or Blogging.

The poster stated he just didn't have
time to blog. He was too busy with his
many websites to get the time.

As I have just finished writing and uploading
43 new pages to one of my own sites - I kinda
agreed with him. It's very hard to find the
time to keep one blog going - let alone when
you have 5 or 6 to constantly update - it does
take up a lot of your time.

One of the best solutions I have found - is
to make the blog an integral part of your
site. This is, put something you normally
do with your site into a blog.

What you ask?

Well, you're reading one of my solutions
right now. Put your daily, weekly - newsletter
into a blog. You can still send it out by e-mail, just
place an 'online' version of your newsletter or
ezine into a blog.

It's writing that you have to do anyway, and
it takes so little time to post it in a blog.
The benefits will be worth your while - the
search engine indexing of your site that results
from keeping a blog(s) is reason enough.

Another solution, is to put your website's updates, or
your company's news, announcements, memos into a blog.
It's already written and you just have to take a few
minutes to place it in a blog.

Another great time saver is to use free content
from 'article directories' like ezinearticles.com
or articlecity.com --- within minutes you can
have enough 'keyword rich' content to fill a
hundred blogs.

Just work these articles around your blog content
and fill it in with a few of your own ideas.

Probably, the best way to get a lot of blog
ideas, content and information is to subscribe to
other blogs in your subject area --- then when you
read or find a bit of newsworthy information--
just reference it in your blog, along with your
own viewpoints and a handy link to the source.

It's a great way to build links and contacts
with others in your area of interest. Blogs
are a great source of information and you will
be doing your bit for the 'blog community'!

You might also find it helpful to put aside
a particular time of the day or week to write
your blog. Sticking to a regular schedule will
save you time in the long run and make writing
your blog entries just another part of your daily
routine.

If you enjoy writing or even if you don't; keeping
a blog or blogs will greatly benefit your
site and your online presence. So much so, making
time for it should be your number one priority.

========================
o Five Solid Reasons To Publish Your Ezine In a Blog!
========================

Besides saving you some time here are some other reasons
why you should put your ezine in a blog. Feel free to
use this article on your site or in your blog! All long
as you keep the links intact - that is!

Five Solid Reasons To Publish Your Ezine In a Blog!

Placing your ezine in a Blog or a RSS Feed only takes
minutes to do. It's easy, fast and free. There's no reason
why you shouldn't take advantage of this new technology.

Here are 5 solid reasons why you should publish your
ezine in a blog:

1. To Syndicate Your Ezine. Place your 'content'
and 'links' on hundreds of sites. As you probably know by
now, the internet is a numbers game - the more links, the
more content you have 'out there' - the more traffic you
will receive.

Syndicating your ezine in a RSS Feed will also make it more
readily available to those who don't check their email or
for those who get their email blocked by Spam Filters or Over
Zealous ISPs.

2. Get Feedback From Your Readers. In my opinion this is the
most important reason to publish your ezine in your
blog. It allows for instant reader feedback.

Communication with your subscribers is essential for building
trust. Instant contact also adds creditability - you are
a real human being - ready to answer any questions a
subscriber might have.

As an extra bonus - your readers also get a chance to add
links to their site. Great for reciprocal linking.

3. Add to MyYahoo! By getting your subscribers to add your
blog to their 'MyYahoo' or 'Bloglines' - your readers have immediate
access to your ezine. You don't even need e-mail. The Spam Filters
can't touch you!

By getting your subscribers to bookmark or Add your ezine/RSS Feed
to their MyYahoo - you're building a large targeted contact list.
A great way to connect instantly with your subscribers.

4. Blogs Will Help Index Your Ezine Quickly. Get your ezine
indexed in all the search engines. More exposure, more sales,
more subscribers. Using 'MyYahoo' will get your ezine indexed
very quickly.

The search engines are constantly looking for fresh content on
your site. By publishing your ezine thru your blog adds fresh
content to your site. You can add new content in a matter of seconds -
without dealing with 'html' or 'xml'. Because it's so fast
and easy - you will be publishing more often or developing other blogs
to match the content on your site.

More links - higher PR rankings.

5. To Monetize Your Blog/Ezine. Many blogs such as eBlogger
encourages you to add the 'adsense code' to your blog. If you have
a large subscriber base you can earn extra money from your ezine
and blog for months; if not years to come.

This is in addition to all those affiliate links and product
promotions you have in your ezine. Get these links indexed
and earning you money for years to come!

In addition, as an extra bonus, by actually using RSS or a blog
you will become familiar with this new technology. Maybe all
the hype about RSS is somewhat overblown but in the near
future every web site will have it. Where's there's hype -
there's interest!

Gear up now to take advantage of this interest. Put RSS on
your site right now.

No one can afford not to use this opportunity to get their
content 'out there' - syndicated on the web. RSS is just
another way of passing along information. You should
take advantage of it.

If you're still wondering how to publish your ezine thru your
blog or how to put RSS on your site. Just download my
simple RSS Report and Guide from the link in the resource box
below.

Putting RSS Feed on your site only takes a couple of minutes.
Publishing your ezine in your RSS Feed can be done in seconds!
Give RSS a try - the rewards are worth it.

o Spring has sprung!
========================

As the power of the sun heats up my
little corner of the world, Spring has
difinitely sprung - and it's a real nice
feeling after a long hard winter.

Only thing is, as the weather gets nicer,
I find it harder and harder to stay on the
computer all day long. And I have so many blogs and
websites to update - it gets a little
overwhelming at times, but never boring.

I keep slugging away, a lot of misses, a few hits,
some real nice surprises as I check my affiliate
stats - it keeps me going for more. It never
fails to amaze me that I can actually earn money
working on a computer two feet from my bed!

It also amazes me that web pages done years ago,
still bring in an occasional affiliate sale...
it's like planting thousands of seeds blindly and
they just lie there until a search engine picks
up a keyword and lists that page...

o Google Video
========================

Since late December of 2004 Google has been
indexing videos and films from different
channels and different sources. It's only in
beta, but it looks very promising especially
if you're a film or tv buff like me.

It's fairly limited to only certain channels right
now, but it will, no doubt, expand in the near
future.

It's very simple to use - say you're looking for
a particular program, just type in search for
[title:nightline] or if you're looking for video
on a certain topic [channel:abc economy].

You can check it out here:Google Video

Should fit in nicely with the billion channel
internet which is coming down the road! Be awhile
yet but it's coming - mark my words!

o Turn Your Passion Into Cash!
========================

Turn Your Passion Into Cash

It's no great secret, if you want to make
money on the Internet you have to turn your
passion into cash. It's easier than you think,
and once you have figured out the few simple
steps you have to follow, it becomes very easy
to do. So simple in fact, anyone can do it.

But how you reach this conclusion can sometimes
be quite painful!

Marketing gurus can sell you a ton of their
secrets, you can follow this plan or that
blueprint...waste a ton of money if you're
not lucky or prudent...but in the end you
will come to your own simple revelation:
one of the best ways to earn money on the
Internet is to turn your hobby, interest or
passion into information that other people
want or need.

The Internet is all about information - you
have to have information that other people
desire or need. If you're lucky you'll simply
stumble onto this simple fact: in order to
earn money on the Internet you have to turn
your passion into cash.

You have to turn your information/passion into a
product of some kind - a website, a newsletter,
an ebook, instructional videos, etc.

And passion is the right word - you have to be passionate,
almost to point of obsession, about your interest
or subject. Believe it or not, unless you're already
flat-lining, you do have at least one special interest
or passion that you go out of your way to enjoy.

Be it stamp collecting, vintage cars, bingo,
cold fusion, vacations, notebook computers,
or baseball cards...the list is endless.

So what's your passion? Write it down or write
down four or five of the things you enjoy
doing, hobbies or interests that you spend
most of your free time enjoying.

Now, choose one of those hobbies or interests
and build a website around it. Setting up a
website can be as simple as going to Bloglines.com
or the new Yahoo360 that's coming soon and
starting a free site on your subject.

Or you can try an inexpensive web hosting
company and set up your site and domain name.
Another option is to try a highly reputable
company like Ken Evoy's SiteBuildIt.

It will give you complete instructions, set-up,
advice, guidance, etc. on how to turn that
site into a profitable one - if that's your
goal. Using a system like SiteBuildIt might
seem a bit expensive just starting out, but
you will reach your goal faster and with
a little less pain than if you go it on your
own.

Once you have your website up, start writing
interesting, informative articles on your
passion or hobby. Place a link to your website in
the resource box of these articles along with
some information about yourself and your site.
State that other websites are free to use these
articles as long as your resource box and links
are included.

As other websites with similar interests place
your articles on their sites, your rankings with
the search engines will increase and grow. You will
also get a steady stream of targeted visitors; people
who are really interested in your subject matter.

Build a list of contacts from these visitors by
offering a free newsletter on your subject area.
Start building the respect and trust of your
subscribers and soon you will become known as
an expert in your subject area. People and websites
will want to link to you because of this expertise.

Gradually, as your traffic and rankings grow, start
putting discreet ads on your website, Google Adsense
is a good starting point. It's simple to use and the
advertising is targeted so your visitors might
even appreciate the links. Besides getting a check
from this billion dollar company will put a slight
smile on your face!

Investigate other affiliate programs related to your
passion and place these on your website. If your
visitors click on a link and buys a product; you get
a small percentage of the sale. If your affiliate product
is something like notebook computers; your cut or
percentage might be a little larger and it will
put an even bigger smile on your face!

Now ask yourself, in the next 24 hours, what's the
activity that you are most looking forward to doing?

Skip that one, and go to the next one and start building
your passionate website around it right now. On second
thought, go with the first -- you'll probably make more!
