Hello,

And a warm welcome to all new subscribers!

How getting in the Blogging Game
Can Benefit Your Site!

o Freezing Cold!

Old man winter is a little grumpy lately,
in this part of the world. It's freezing cold
and we still have two months to go! Hope it's
a lot warmer where you are.

The cold weather keeps me indoors and working
on the computer. I am writing more articles and
updating my sites more often as a result.

Hopefully, I am improving as I go along.

Writing is not my first love! But I am getting
to like it!

Love it or hate it. Writing is the most
important skill to have on the web. Let's face -
most of what we do on here -- has to do with the
written word.

Until audio and video take over most of the
websites in the near future -- writing is still
the skill you have to learn. Like anything, the
more you do -- the better you become!

Reading over some of the pages I wrote two or
three years ago I noticed how my writing style
has changed since then. Everything now is focused
on 'benefits' putting the best benefits or
'what's in for me' -- up front in my articles
and web pages.

But I am still making mistakes - for example
one of my articles which I entitled
'How to Make Your Website Sticky' was
picked up by this site:
http://www.roypenfold.co.uk/index.php

And put under the heading:

How to attract repeat visitors - Make it Sticky

Can you see which one points out the benefits
more forcefully - same article but I made the
mistake of not pointing out the major benefit
of that article. If you write an article put
the major benefit in the title -- I've been
reading that advice for years but I still
forget it.

We don't write articles for ourselves, we
write articles for our readers. You better give
them a reason in the title or the first paragraph
or two - why they should be reading this or it's
goodbye without a second glance.

I believe the same thing holds true for your
website - give your visitors some 'benefits',
some 'reasons' to be on your site. Give them
some reasons to stay.

Writing is the key to success on the web.

I am a subscriber of Willie Crawford - have
been taking his advice for years.

Something he once said always stays with me.

I am not quoting him directly... but one of
the main reasons he stated why (he of all people)
became very successful as an affiliate marketers...
out of a whole group of marketers, with the
same tools, same materials, same resources, etc.
why it was him who became the 'super' affiliate ---
was the quality of his writing.

And we are NOT talking about grammar, syntax,
dangling particles, misplaced pronouns or sentence
structure.

But a much more important quality. One that's
harder to see!

That is 'there's an intangible' in your writing
people can pick up on -- they can instinctively
know whether you genuinely care about them,
whether you're genuinely sincere in your writing.

People can read between the lines... it's
something intuitive we have...whether you
realize it or not, your true nature comes
across in your writing.

Especially in a newsletter or blog; where
subscribers can read your stuff over an
extended period of time. Your true character
shines thru all those words!

That sincerity is something you can't fake...
people will pick up on it very quickly...like
spotting a salesperson's phony smile.
It's just something we have.

In forums, in your articles, in your newsletter,
in your blog, on your website...people are
judging you by your writing. Whether you realize
it or not -- that 'intangible' intuitively comes
into play and has a very important part
in your success.

Remember it the next time to write that article
or newsletter or blog post. Be yourself!

Just something to think about before you
write your next sentence!

My next article --- will be --- how to get over
writer's block.

Just kidding!!!

o Getting in a Blogging mood

I have come late to the blogging scene
so I am making up for lost time!

What really got me interested in blogging
was not blogging at all but RSS.

RSS which stand for Really Simple Syndication -
I wanted to put it on my site so I took a
closer look at blogging.

I am really glad I did. It has meant a large
increase in traffic to my site.

I have seen a significant increase in my site's
ratings with Yahoo -- that 'ping' really pinged
for my site! (If you're wondering what all this
means just download my free RSS/Blog Guide:
download. )

The guide is 'entree level' stuff with a lot
of great links and resources. It will get
you started. Introduce you to blogging and
RSS - the sooner you start using this - the
better your site or online activities will
prosper.

It did something to boost my site's ratings
within Yahoo. Their robots call on your more often
and more of your site gets indexed... at least
that what I have found.

It has also opened up a whole part of the web
I knew was there but didn't think it had much
to do with internet marketing.

Boy, was I ever wrong in this case... especially
for link and keyword building - it is tailor made.

But more so than any economic gain from using a
blog - I like the idea of getting to read and
view different marketers in their own words.

It somehow humanizes their websites ... fleshes
it out with real feelings... it gives a real
glimpse inside their heads. Where they're coming
from. The real mc goy. Not just some perfectly
planned out sales letter or website.

If you don't have a blog ... start one. It will
also help to flesh out your site. Give it a
human touch. Help build that trustful
relationship with your customers.

Before we get too gushy ... if will also give
you a direct RSS feed to your customers... to
tell them about any product updates,
improvements, new products, etc.

A perfect sales tool if there ever was one!

You can start a Blog/RSS for free or you
can use a service like BlogID.

I have had my main site up for years now ...
but If I was just starting out ... I would
go with a webhost like DomainDirect which
gives us ezinearticles.com or ideamarketers.com
to get fresh daily content for your blog.

Pick articles based your site's 'keywords'
and build all those anchor text links to
your site. Google will fall in love with
your site!!!

There really is no reason why you shouldn't
start a blog. It simple, fast and free.

----------------------

There's another reason I am excited about
RSS and Blogs --I mentioned this briefly
in my last newsletter.

That's 'tags'.

Now this new way of accessing blogs may
just be 'flash in the pan' as they say.
Here and gone within a few months or it
could be the start of something big.

Read all about 'tags' in the following article:

Tags - Revolutionary or Just Folly?

Just another trend or something else?

Trends happen overnight! Some catch on fast
and explode very quickly into our every day use.

Most of these trends you can ignore as silly
folly or at the most fine amusement. Anyone
remember pet rocks, Farrah Fawcett hairdos,
or last year's killer fashions?

Others, you have to pay more attention to:
cell phones, digital cameras, mini-sites,
optin lists, or email.

Right now, there's another trend you
should keep your eye on: 'tags'.

What are tags? And why should you
care about them?

Tags are a way of sorting and linking
all that information in blogs and RSS Feeds.
It groups together all the information on
one particular subject.

It's a democratic 'search engine' for blogs.

Think of a 'tag' as a 'keyword' to be
used in blogging and RSS Feeds (Feed tags
are still in the works).

Tags have hit the radar lately because
Technorati, which indexes 4.5 million blogs,
started sorting blog posts by using tags.

They have created a folksonomy, drawing
tags from different sources, mainly Flickr.com
which sorts or groups pictures and from
del.icio.us -- where you create a tag
when you bookmark a page.

Or if your blogging software supports
categories - these will be recognized by
Technorati as a tag.

If you want to create a 'tag' it's very simple;
just place this code in your blog:

<*a href="http://technorati.com/tag/Computers" rel="tag">Computers<*/a>
(remove asterisks in actual code)

and you will have created a tag for .
Click link to see example.

A tag makes it easier and faster to find
information on your favorite subject.
It gives you a cross section of real
views and opinions floating in the ether.

There are some inherrent problems in this
system; will the posts grow so quickly and
so large -- it's like 'finding a needle in
a haystack' or will you have to dig thru
a lot of muck to find the scattered diamonds.
Or maybe a ranking system will be put in
place but this goes against the 'democratic code'
of blogging.

Regardless, the traffic and marketing
potential of 'tags' could be very beneficial
to those who use it to their advantage.

A marketer with a product to introduce
or promote could aggressively target tags
as part of their advertising budget. As blogging
increases in popularity - it's something
to watch!

As a website owner - tags could be a great
source of targeted traffic. And the keyword
here is 'targeted'.

It's the kind of visitor you want coming to
your site or blog. It can only lead to a better
quality visitor. Similar to a visitor coming from
the major search engines. One that is really
searching for your information.

The next big question, how will marketers
exploit these tags to make a few bucks?
Everyone knows that's coming!

Will we have a 'tag search engine' that can
rival the quality of a Google or Yahoo?
Or do we need one?

As with any new trend - you never know how
it will play out.

Some interesting questions have yet to
be answered:

Tags are basically keywords for blogs - but
as everyone knows the quality of links to
these tags are not all equal. Will someone step
in and rank these or will they remain
democratic?

Just how will tags work for building content
or links to your site? How will the search
engines use these tags? How will marketers
and advertisers exploit the potential of
all this content and the content's viewers?

Will we have tag-spamming? (Just what we
need another form of spamming!) Someone flooding
these tags with thousands of links
to get traffic or sell a product.

Not to hype it too much but there's a real
'we're entering unknown territory' feeling
with blogging and RSS lately. How this one plays
out - is anyone's guess. There are countless
applications probably already in the works for 'tags'!

It could be the start of something big or
it could just fizzle.

In any case -- keep your eyes peeled to
that cursor! There's probably a tag on
the end of it!

This trend may just offer more than fine amusement.

Hello, And a warm welcome to all new subscribers!

o Rant

Just a little Rant...

...on the price of pork!

First, I must confess, I am subscribed
to hundreds of newsletters mainly in the
web promotion and web marketing fields.

I get on average about 15 or 20 each day
faithfully into my inbox.(beats getting spam!)
Just barely!

I have a special email account of course for
all these enlightening emails.

I subject myself (for the learning experience)
to endless sales pitches on the latest info
products, software, and how to get rich mumbo
jumbo silliness.

It's almost addicting - almost.

Some - a rare few - are quite helpful and
go immediately into my save folder. These
shine like diamonds thru all the muck and
can be easily spotted. These marketers go on
my 'A' list and they're not who I am
ranting about today.

Lately, however, from some well known names
I am getting more and more porous pitches for
the sale of some 'vital, can't live without
SEO info, some miraculous software that will
put me into Google Heaven with one click or
line of code on my website.

Give poor sam a break!

Most of that stuff, if it's works at all
... will only work for a month or two and then
more than likely will you get banned.

And the price of dreams are going up lately...

A while back ... these marketers... and don't
get me wrong they are many legitimate info
marketers out there with very good products
that you should buy...

would offer these products up for a reasonable
price ... under fifty bucks...rarely over
a hundred. So what if most of it's just
a pipe dream ... keep you happy for a couple
of weeks dreaming of all those riches.
That's worth a few bucks.

But lately I am getting pitches for products
that are priced in the 1000, 2000 or even the
5000 or 10000 dollar range. The tapes from
this seminar, the stats from these logs are
worth 10's of thousands to you...and we
are only offering a limited number or
only 8 copies are left...

packages of CD's and Video's and workbooks
that will transform your websites or your
life - which ever comes first!

The sad part is ... these marketers know how
to market... know how to write the killer
sales letter...know how to push the right
buttons... they are true professionals in
every sense of the word. Biblical even!

What does it matter if 95% of the people
buying this stuff will never use what they're
sellin' ... will never know how to use it.

And if that wasn't enough... lately, they have
raised their prices... way, way, way up!

Hey you!

The cost of dreams are priced too high folks...
if you're one of those smart slick marketers out
there making millions off the dreams of some
poor sod --- shame on you.

Stop it!

Your information is not worth that much!

Don't get too greedy!

The dreams you'll selling have become too
high priced...do us all a favor...

Lower the costs of your dreams...

Please!

It will give you years and years of
enjoyment and you can always hawk it!

Extreme Makeover for Your WebSite

Recently, I took a real hard
look at my home base web site.

http://www.bizwaremagic.com/

I didn't like what I saw so I make some
real changes. A whole list of them in
fact. Extreme makeover for my site.

I put in a lot of things that were missing
- the extras that make a site look
more professional. Favicon, blog, rss, etc.

(you can see a list of these if you
want to do the same to your site - just
click this link)

Website Makeover

I also changed the concept of my site -
I now base it around 'direct answers' to
'direct questions' anyone owning a web
business or web site would ask.

For example:
How do I put a blog on my site?
How do I get a RSS Feed for my site or product?
How do I build an opt in list? etc.

I give direct, step-by-step instructions on
how to solve these problems. If I don't have
the information on my site - I create it or
point you in the right direction.

I am also targeting 'keyword phrases' on certain
pages and offering solutions to these
questions. I have been doing this in my Newsletter
for some time but now I am bringing my website
around to the same concept.

Give people what they're looking for...

I have also recently, taken this 'keyword question'
marketing to the next level and extended it out over
the web!

How?

I am doing this by writing articles based on those
'keyword questions' and placing them in sites
like 'ezinearticles.com'. Other webmasters pick
up your articles and place them on their
sites.

You have one way links to your 'keyword questions'
- the higher the quality of the article - the
higher the level of PR of the site that takes
your article. (Is what I found!)

See some of my bait here: here.

If you're a well seasoned web marketer - nothing
of this is new to you. But it's something
you should try if you're just starting out.

So if you're interested in An Extreme Make Over
for your site just click this link: here.

Of course, it doesn't really have to be extreme
- you can just make a few improvements and
touch ups.

Been watching too many reality TV shows lately,
they have invaded my brain cells to the very core
... everything turning to mush!!!

But that's another story for another day!!!

```````````````````
o Tags
This one hit my radar this week and I will be
checking it out fully - writing articles on it, etc.
Could play a big factor in online marketing
in the very near future as the popularity of
blogging goes up.
It's sort of a 'keyword questions' for RSS or
Blogs. Looks very interesting.
I have included some in this post.
Hope you find them!!!
But I need to really do some checking
before I comment further on this one.
``````````````````

All the best and have a great week,

=================================

o Good Start

2005 is starting off very good for me, I am building a lot of
links to my site thru articles and the RSS/Blog Guide.

People are curious about RSS and it's showing in my stats.
Plus, my web host has upgraded it's platform and is more
powerful than ever. It also has much better stats which is
even more important.

If you're like me - you use your stats and web logs to keep
track of your site's hits. Find out where your traffic is
coming from. Online forums is a big traffic source
for me -- if you're not using them. Try them. They are
great for targeted traffic.

You can find a list of internet marketing forums here:
Internet Marketing Forums

o Article Writing

Another big source of targeted traffic is article writing. I
have doubled my efforts in that field lately.

Ezinearticles.com is great place to start. Not only can you place
articles there but other webmasters go there to pick up articles for
their sites and ezines.

I have already gotten one way links from webmasters placing
my articles on their sites. You also get a nice cool link like this
one to list your articles.

http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Titus_Hoskins

Now, if I can only spell I would be ok!!

o Feature Article

Before we get to the feature article - I would just like to say something!

I have been plugging RSS lately, mainly because I am excited about it.
I have seen a big boost in my site's stats from rss/blog links.
Traffic from yahoo and msn is way up. (No difference in Google.)

RSS is causing a lot of hype.

Most people don't understand it - or want to deal with it - but
it's a great addition to your site. It really syndicates your
content. It's like a News Release Service for your site.

It gets your content out to your subscribers, customers,
patrons --- instantly. I believe it will be the wave of the future...
how websites will be designed.

Nothing stays the same. Technologies change in an instant.
But it usually takes a while for new ones to become mainstream.
Were you the first in your group to use a phonograph, 8 track,
vcr, dvd, digital camera.... )

If you want to read my musings on the new technology of RSS
you can read my "SoapBox Article" entitled:

--- Are Websites Obsolete Already ----

It's part bull, part fact - but all heart!

I think the new websites will be made around rss/blogging
code like the one we already see offered by BlogID.

Made your website a blog. Syndicate allyour site's content
thru RSS. Get your stuff 'out there' to your audience really fast.

Like all great things -- only time will tell!

Anyway, if you need convincing - here are:

oFeature Article

10 Reasons to Put RSS on Your Site.

RSS and Blogs are the topics of the moment. Seems like everyone
is talking about it. Granted, there is too much hype about RSS
and Blogs.

But where there's hype - there's interest!

And with good reason - RSS is posed to be the breakout technology
of 2005. Those who don't take full advantage of it will be left behind.

If you need convincing - here are 10 reasons why you should put RSS on your site:

1. It's easy and fast! Not to mention Free! You can use a
free service like eBlogger and publish your Blog and RSS feed
within minutes. You can even place or publish your Blog/RSS
Feed on your own site without knowing 'html' or'xml'.
It's all done for you!

Repeat - it's simple to use and very convenient. Publishing
your blog is only a few clicks away. (If you need help -
just use the link at the end of this article.)

2. Syndicate Your Content. RSS stands for
'really simple syndication' and it's just another way
of passing along your information. With the popularity of
'MyYahoo' and the 'Firefox' browser (which has a
built-in RSS feed reader) increasing - syndicating
your content has gotten even simpler.

The next version of Windows is reportly scheduled to
have aRSS feature. If this happens - RSS will explode.

3. Get Your Content Indexed. Using blogs to
publish your content is a neat way of side stepping
the regular indexing procedure. It gets your content
indexed very quickly in most of the search engines.

Search Engines are constantly on the lookout for
'fresh content' - these 'link rich' blogs are a good
source of this content. Because blogs are on specific
topics - they have a concentrated source of good
quality informational material to serve out!

4. Instant Contact. Blogs give you instant
contact with your readers or viewers. We live in an
'instant' society - we want everything five minutes ago.
Blogs provide this instant gratification. Readers or
viewers using MyYahoo have an instant link to your
information or postings.

RSS Feeds will instantly spread your information to
all interested parties - bringing in targeted traffic.

5. Building Your List. People who pick up your
RSS feedor add you to their MyYahoo site - become your
subscribers. You are really building your contact list.
Have a popular blog or RSS Feed and you can build a
large targeted contact list very quickly.

Might not replace your old opt-in email list - but it
can be a lucrative addition to it! Take advantage of
all those targeted contacts.

6. Link Building. Blogs are link heavens! Build
your links thru blogs. All these links will boost your
link popularity and increase your search engine rankings.

Plus, by giving viewers/readers a way of adding your
RSS Feed creates targeted links to your site. This
reason alone is why your site should have RSS!

7. Viewer/Subscriber Feedback. Instant feedback
from your subscribers or viewers is easy with blogs.
Creating trust and credibility is so much easier
when there is immediate communication between
the two parties.

8. Keyword Content Building. Blogs are especially
good for building 'keyword targeted content' for your site.
All these links will boost your keyword rankings in the
search engines. Google places a high value on 'anchor text'
and blogs are a good place to put all those links.

You can also start different blogs targeted at specific
related keywords covering the major topics of your site.
Again, search engines love related keyword linking so
you can boost your site's rankings by using blogs.

9. Monetize Your Content. Blogs are an excellent
way of monetizing your content. Blog sites like Eblogger
owned by Google) even encourages you to use the
'adsense code' in your blogs. If you have a popular
blog - this may bring in extra income.

Plus, publishing your ezine or newsletter in a blog
can bring in revenue for months if not years to come.
All those affiliate links and product promotions
get indexed by the search engines and become
accessible to a wider audience, i.e. market.

10. Because Everyone Else is Doing It! Might sound
a bit 'Jonesish' but you do have to keep up with what
other web sites are doing. To remain competitive
- you must put RSS on your site.

Sites without the 'AddtoMyYahoo' link or the 'xml'
button will be the exception rather than the rule in
just a few years - if not months. It's simply another
way of getting your information 'out there'. It's an
opportunity and advantage that you cannot afford to miss.

Proceed without RSS at your own risk!

Here are some resources on or connected with my site.

It's amazing all the stuff you examine in four or
five years. Over the years, whenever I find something
useful- I list or put it on my site.

Lot of stuff on there! I did a search in one of the

Dig around in there and you'll be surprised at what
you'll find.

Some are affiliate links - so take them witha grain

*Happy New Year!

Season's Greetings and all the Best for the New Year!

Hope you have a prosperous and healthy new year. And may
you realize your dreams for yourself and your loved ones in 2005.

Make it a year to remember!

-------------------------------------------------
*What do you have planned for the New Year?
-------------------------------------------------

There are 364 days left in 2005 - how are you planning to use them?

The start of another new year always makes one plan for things
we are going to do, resolutions that we will keep this year.

It's a brand new start. How will you use it?

For me personally, I going to hit the search engines this year!

'The year of the Search Engine'!

Really get down to building more links to my sites - all out assault.

I will be using RSS and Blogging, placing articles in all the directories,
using viral ebooks and reports to build my base.

I already have my viral report on RSS/Blogging 'out there'! Gathering links and subscribers.
http://www.bizwaremagic.com/RSS/Lead_Capture_Page.htm

Yesterday, or the day before I started placing articles in the directories.

I started with three articles in www.ezinearticles.com - you can place
5 free articles in there for free -considering they have a PR of 6.
It's something you should also try!

Here's another article tip for you: # Place all your articles on Autoresponders and have a general autoresponder listing all your articles. Here's what I have done so far : (keep in mind the spelling of the email address- don't want that email address on a web page)

all-articles(at)bizwaremagic.com

this autoresponder will list all the articles I want circulated. Just
add your new articles to this AR - with a different Autoresponder
for each article. Just send a blank email to that address to access all
the articles.

I plan to place a couple of articles a day in different ezine directories.
It's a great way to build links. Hope I can keep it up!

This year I will at least triple the links going to each of my sites - that's my
NewYear's Resolution!

Five Solid Reasons To Publish Your Ezine In a Blog!

Placing your ezine in a Blog or a RSS Feed only takes minutes to do. It's easy, fast and free. There's no reason why you shouldn't take advantage of this new technology.

Here are 5 solid reasons why you should publish your ezine in a blog:

1. To Syndicate Your Ezine. Place your 'content' and 'links' on hundreds of sites.
As you probably know by now, the internet is a numbers game - the more links, the more content you have 'out there' - the more traffic you will receive.

Syndicating your ezine in a RSS Feed will also make it more readily available to those who don't check their email or for those who get their email blocked by Spam Filters or OverZealous ISPs.

2. Get Feedback From Your Readers. In my opinion, this is the most important reason to publish your ezine in your blog. It allows for instant reader feedback.

Communication with your subscribers is essential for building trust. Instant contact also adds creditability - you area real human being - ready to answer any questions a subscriber might have.

As an extra bonus - your readers also get a chance to add links to their site. Great for reciprocal linking.

3. Add to MyYahoo! By getting your subscribers to add your blog to their 'MyYahoo' - your readers have immediate access to your ezine. You don't even need e-mail. The Spam Filters can't touch you!

By getting your subscribers to bookmark or Add your ezine/RSS Feedto their MyYahoo - you're building a large targeted contact list. A great way to connect instantly with your subscribers.

4. Blogs Will Help Index Your Ezine Quickly. Get your ezine indexed in all the search engines. More exposure, more sales, more subscribers. Using 'MyYahoo' will get your ezine indexed very quickly.

The search engines are constantly looking for fresh content on your site. By publishing your ezine thru your blog you're adding fresh content to your site. You can add new content in a matter of seconds -without dealing with 'html' or 'xml'. Because it's so fast and easy - you will be publishing more often or developing other blogs to match the content on your site.

More links - higher PR rankings.

5. To Monetize Your Blog/Ezine. Many blogs such as eBlogger encourages you to add the 'adsense code' to your blog. If you have a large subscriber base you can earn extra money from your ezine and blog for months; if not years to come.

This is in addition to all those affiliate links and product promotions you have in your ezine. Get these links indexed and earning you money for years to come!

In addition, as an extra bonus, by actually using RSS or a blog you will become familiar with this new technology. Maybe all the hype about RSS is somewhat overblown but in the near future every web site will have it. Where's there's hype - there's interest!

Gear up now to take advantage of this interest. Put RSS on your site right now.

No one can afford not to use this opportunity to get their content 'out there' - syndicated on the web. RSS is just another way of passing along your information. You should take advantage of it.

*My Predictions for the 'Big Hits' in 2005
------------------------------------------
It's hard to say what will hit big in 2005.

I think RSS/Blogging will become bigger - more and more people using it on their sites.
This one is really ready to go 'mainstream' and become as popular as poker!

If the new Windows comes with RSS - look out!

I think search engines products like - Ken McArthur's'TrafficShowcase' and Mike Glaspie's 'Zabang' may be big hits.

Be on the look out for Mike Chen's 'InstantBuzz' - that one will break even more in 2005.

As for trends - everybody and his/her grandmother will be doing 'webinars' in 2005!
Those kind of conferences - both paid and free - will increase.

But who really knows what will break big in 2005 - guess that will always remain the 'million' dollar question.

Here's hoping for the best.

Regards,
Titus
