o Greetings from The Blog Zone

Like many of the subscribers and readers of this
newsletter I keep or write several blogs to compliment
my websites. It really has extended the reach of my
sites and I am now getting a lot of traffic from
the search engines to my blog postings and archive pages.

Blogs are a great way of building content and links to
your main site - its an addition (in my humble opinion) you
must now have if you want your site to remain competitive.

For getting your site spidered and indexed - it can't be
beat. If you're targeting certain 'keywords or phrases' -
place them in your blogs and you will see a quick indexing
of your keywords.

Even using free sites like Blogger.com or Bloglines.com will
give your site greater exposure and reach. All it takes is
a little time and you can have a blog up and running within
minutes. There is no reason why you shouldn't be blogging
your heart out!

Just go blog!

o Google's Portal!

Google has finally come out with a portal
site or page. If they wanted to remain competitive,
it was a 'must have' development or next step
and it marks the 'coming of age' for this search engine.
(Again, my humble opinion!)

You can now personalize your Google and make it your
own. Listing for gmail, news, weather, stocks and so on.
It brings Google up to speed with other SEs portals like
mymsn and myYahoo.

You can check out Google's lastest offering here:

Why Google has decided to not use an RSS feature defies
comprehension! Someone high up in Google must be sitting on
their 'anti-rss' behind - it really doesn't make sense.

One of the most popular uses of my.yahoo is the rss
feature - keeping up to date on your favorite blogs
and subjects of interest. By definition, this is one
of the major reasons for a start or portal page. First
thing you check in the morning - to get informed on the
latest news on your areas of interest. DUH!

Of course, this is only a 'beta' version of Google's portal
page - lets hope the final version will have an RSS feature.
There should be a 'lobby' group petitioning Google to finally
grab the RSS 'wildcard' and put it into play! Enough already!

Not having RSS is like building a house without plumbing -
you have to go outside to do your business!

Not what an ideal portal should be...

o Pinging Your Blogs

Regularly pinging your blogs does wonders for getting your
sites spidered and indexed! Most of you have probably
noticed by now that using sites like 'myYahoo' to ping
your blogs and rss feeds is a great way of keeping your
sites and webpages in the indexes of the major search engines.

Pinging is simply sending out a signal to all the weblog tracking
sites that your site/blog has been updated.

Here's a site http://pingomatic.com/ that will 'ping' you blog automatically in many different sites.
Services or sites you can Ping with one click:

Weblogs.com
Blo.gs
Technorati
Feed Burner
Syndic8
NewsGator
Feedster

PubSub.com

o Top 5 Spyware Fighting Tips

As I mentioned last week I am writing some articles on the
threat of spyware and adware on your computer. This is becoming
a real pest and may already have replaced spam as the number
one headache for surfers and computer users.

However, spyware, adware, worms, malware, trojans, etc. may present
a greater threat than spam. Spyware agents can literally ruin your
life - if you become a victim of identity theft. You may also suddenly
lose everything on your computer - a total wipe-out of all data and
programs.

It happens!

No doubt, combating these spyware agents will become a major trend
or activity in the coming months and years. Here's 5 simple steps
you can take to make sure you win this battle.

You can read the article here:Spyware Removal Tips

Hope you have a great week!
