Well known UK gaming laptop maker Rock has launched two massive
gaming rigs: Rock Xtreme 790 and Rock Xtreme 840.
For those gamers who can stomach a laptop for gaming instead
of the more suitable desktop PC - Rock extreme laptops are at
the top of their list. The introduction of these two powerful
machines wlll only cement that reputation.
The Rock Xtreme will feature up to Intel® Core™ i7 Extreme
processor i7-975 4 x 3.33GHz, 8MB Cache, 1366MHz - now that's
packing some quad power!
It will also feature NVIDIA 280M GTX 1GB GDDR3 graphics card
with up to 6GB of DDR3 RAM. Full HD 17-inch display and
three 7,200rpm hard drives (RAID mode) which gives you a
massive 1.5 TB of memory.
Now the Rock Xtreme 840 has a 18.4-inch display and comes
with slighly more options: Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad processors
and the option of dual NVIDIA GTX 280M GPU.
Both gaming laptops will sport Wi-Fi connectivity, four USB 2.0 ports,
an HDMI slot and a 7-in-1 card reader. Both will have Windows
Vista with a free upgrade to Windows 7 in October.
As for prices - the Xtreme 790 will be roughly 1,999 pounds
(around $3,258 at today’s rate) while the Xtreme 840 goes
for 1,699 pounds (around $2,769). Check site for exact
prices and specs.
Rock's main competition will be other major gaming laptop
makers such as Alienware, Sager, MSI... and of course,
just about every gaming desktop PC on the market!
